Simple and elegant
This is such a simple, yet beautiful rest for my dip pens! It has a wide enough base that it won't get knocked over easily (I am pretty clutzy, so this is important for me) and I can have multiple pens or brushes out at a time so I can switch between tools easily.Something that appeals to me personally is the texture of the wood. It is smooth and feels really good to the touch. I am big on the feel of things, since I am very tactile in general, so this was a bonus. That also means it won't scratch up any fancy pens or brushes you use.

Holds my watercolor brushes was there drying or as I’m painting
Are use it for my watercolor brushes it’s a little bit high but you know it’s fine and it has five slots I can stick in a pencil if I am sketching and if it’s in my brush roll so I’m gonna say I like it a lot it goes with me everywhere

Wonderful Organizer for a Small Space
I realize this is a calligraphy brush holder, but I paint in oils and I have a small workspace. This holder is excellent for organizing and keeping my workspace cleaner while I paint. This is the second one I've purchased and it's worth every penny.

My son loved them!
My son is an artist and recently took up calligraphy as a side hobby. He really likes antiques and old style tools etc. He loved these whale pen rests. They reminded him of the Moby Dick story. Great quality, heavy and nicely done. I was very pleased with the craftsmanship and simple design. Great price too.

Just what I needed
I needed to keep my paint brushes from rolling away and this is perfect. It’s small enough so it does not take up too much room and heavy enough so it stays put

Just what I'm looking for
The quality looks good, I like the color. A little expensive for me (of course, comparing to what in China...)

Easy to set pen on
I like this pen holder because the four ridges (or whatever you'd call them) make it easy to set your pen down.

This exceeded my expectations in just about every way
I have been looking at this item for some time now and finally decided purchase it. The price of the item had me questioning the quality. It exceeded my expectations in just about every area. It is larger than it appeared online, much heavier and considerably more stable than I thought it was going to be as well. Aesthetically it is a nice looking piece as well. There are a few drips on one side from a poor paint job, but I don't even care. This is great. It holds up to four regular sized brushes which makes it great for practicing Shodo or sumi-e or any other project which may require the use of several brushes.

Beautiful Brush Rest
Nicely varnished, very smooth wood. Works well to keep your brushes up off your work surface. I don't worry about damaging my brushes or having them roll off my desk as I paint. Very useful item and it looks nice sitting on a shelf when not in use.

Practical and Pretty
This aesthetically pleasing brush rest has a permanent place on my art room table. I use it to hold watercolour brushes as I work, and after rinsing and reshaping the brushes, I store them propped on this to dry.
