One of my new all-time favorite novels
Now, everyone gather around and listen up: the 2021 novel EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM WILL SOMEDAY BE DEAD by debuting author Emily Austin is magnificent in every way, the deepest, most profound, yet also most rapturously page-turning work of fiction I’ve had the privilege of reading since at least Matt Haig’s THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY. The lead character of Gilda is one for the ages, a 27-year-old atheist lesbian drowning in existential dread who finds herself suddenly taking over the administrative assistant position at a Catholic Church recently vacated by an elderly woman who may have been murdered. Gilda is astutely drawn, touchingly flawed, and monumentally human, and the novel, while touching upon heavy themes involving mental health and the fragility of one’s mortality, is thoroughly entertaining, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, and, ultimately, sublimely life-affirming. This is one of my new favorites to add to my all-time list, a story about the beauty and pain of life and all the little, seemingly insignificant things that make it so very extraordinary. A MUST-READ!

Just Too Depressing
So many people suffer with mental illness and addiction. If this is a trigger for you-be warned. I do have a new found respect for what some people must go through each day just to survive. This was a sad book-I actually wished I’d never read it. I kept reading thinking it just had to get better. Nope.

you can truly relate the character!!
I am 19 years old, I am gay, and I struggle deeply with anxiety. Throughout reading this book, I felt myself keep saying "me too", and truly relating myself to Gilda. I struggle to find books that I can get something out of ( I am quite picky ), but I can say proudly this is my new favorite book. I recommend this book to those who struggle with anxiety themselves or even know someone who does. It is a beautiful read.
