Be weary of SnapPower
I've got dozens of these Guidelights and even their USB outlet coverplates. The Guidelights look elegant and allow easy installation while retaining full use of both outlets. They really do look fantastic when lit up near other Guidelight covers in a room. Now the reasoning behind the 2-star rating. If you happen to buy your SnapPower Guidelights at different times (say you were to buy 5 now and 5 later) chances are they're going to have different light temperatures resulting in much different colors. My earlier Guidelights (I was a Kickstarter backer) are more of a "daylight" white while the newer ones are much softer almost yellow light. This is completely unacceptable in my mind as these are not a cheap accessory and due to the cost, many people may buy different quantities at different times.Secondly, I had one just stop working. It was extremely random. This brings me to my third issue.Their support is almost non existent. Look on their website for any contact information. As of two weeks ago, it wasn't even an option. They don't respond at all on Social Media either, which is even more surprising seeing as they are a crowd-funded company.Until they can get their quality control in order and do MUCH better with their customer service, I'd advise you to stay clear. I've got a couple hundred dollars worth of their products. I had to move coverplates and change lots of things around to make sure the same color temps were "hopefully" in the same area. Also, if any more were to break it is simply lost money.

When it fits, works well, but the cover does not work for some outlets
On some of my outlets, this product works as expected, the light points down instead of a general glow which is nice, and the cover looks normal with the nightlight off. However, the product description is misleading - this cover will NOT work with some contemporary outlets. When the description says "standard" they do not mean "commonly used outlets designs", they are referring to two specific variations of outlets that happen to have the word "Standard" in their name ("Standard Duplex"). But even those names are not hard specs, but rather casually used labels in the construction industry that refer to various similar designs – some of which will not work with this cover. The cover will still work as just a cover over most “standard” outlets, but the nightlight may not work.*** Before purchasing this product you need to:1. Go to the SnapPower website,2. Review the installation instructions, see pictures of the two types of compatible outlets,3. Open up the outlet you intend to use this cover on,4. Ensure the power line screws are in the same location as pictured, and are not covered, recessed or otherwise deviate from the specified configuration. ***

Good idea in theory
Bought the 5 pack Decor. I am not an electrician but have somewhat experience and knowledge in installing outlets, etc. as I own 3 houses and replace them all the time. Simple design in theory but installation can become a headache :/ Again, I purchase the 5 pack. I turned off the power to the outlets, double check each outlets to make sure there is no power and quickly and easily installed them. Turned the power back on and voila! DONE! SIMPLE right? Well, 2 of the 5 worked right away because the prongs made good contact with the outlet's side screws terminal. With the 3 cover plate not working, I began fiddling with them in attempt to get a better contact with the side screw terminal. Did not work. Went back into the basement and turned the power off. Ran back upstairs, took the cover plate off, began adjusting and bending the prongs just as the instructions said, placed the cover plate back on while attempting to ensure the prongs are touching the side screw terminal, ran back into the basement and turned on the power. Nothing. Still did not work. After several attempts, I got tired and decided to do what any electricians would advise NOT to do: I kept the power on and began fiddling with the cover plate to ensure the prongs were touching the side screw terminal. This way, when I have good contact, the led lights would turn on.Turns out with the 3 outlets that weren't working, when the outlets were securely tightened into the wall, the outlet was too far back for the prongs to make contact. I had to loosen the outlets just enough (with the power still on; dangerous I know) and constantly re-adjust the coverplate until there was good contact...but this let to another problem now: the outlet was loose loose now. Not only is the outlet loose (can physically push the outlet around with pressure) but when you plug anything into the outlet, the brief pressure use to plug any wire into the outlet would cause the faceplate to temporarily lose contact with the side screw terminal. This may not be a big issue now because after you are done plugging in anything into the outlet, the led turns back on but I'm worried for the long run because with the outlet now loose, there is a chance in the far future, after much plugging in and out, the prongs will miss or lose contact with the side screw terminal and I would constantly have to readjust them. I guess, it would be a big deal but an annoying one.PROS:+bright led+simple design in theoryCONS:-expensive-when it doesn't works, it will probably take ALOT of time adjustingInstead of having two prongs, I wouldn't mind sacrificing the "easy" installation with having two wires hooked or screwed with the side screw terminal ENSURING the contact.

Subdued indoor path light in a SNAP, No really!
The media could not be loaded. So the new home I bought needed some lighting in those dark areas, Hallways, Guest Rooms, Entryway and Bathrooms. I had a contractor give me a quote to install lighting that would light the areas I mentioned. Well after the initial shock of a 2K quote, i decided to put this project off,, like permanently! However, clicking around the internet I came across this type of lighting. A quick search on Amazon and I found these SnapPower Guidelights. So, I tried a pack of 5 and when they came in, I installed them right away.... WOW..... really? that easy? So I loved them so much I went ahead and ordered another 5 pack. So a couple of things for you to know, they are not super bright (they are not made to be), but they are perfect if you want to subtly light dark areas such as hallways, bathrooms and guest rooms. With that said, I am only one week into the incredibly easy install ... if I see a need to update, certainly I will do so. But for now, do yourself a favor and bypass an expensive install and get the SnapPower Guidelights.
