Fabrication 86-0075 Hip Kit #3: 32" Reacher, Straight Handle Sponge, Deluxe Sock aid, Shoehorn, Dressing Stick

This kit has everything you need to dress yourself and assist you with daily functioning after a hip replacement. I recommend it and you can't beat the price.

All 4 items were a hit. Purchases for a senior who had a knee replacement. She no longer has to bend over to put on her shoes. The grabber works well with holding on the items that are out of reach. The back reach is soft on the skin. Then the sock one is least used due to it doesn't work well with knee-hi.

If you have a wider calf, the plastic sock aid is curved for a thinner calf. Will be too tight to pull off compared to others. All items worked and ok for price but not very sturdy. The wood puller is a thinner dowel than my others. The gripper not very good, broke within days. Shoe horn is fine but not as tall as you might think - you will have to bend to use it. Sponge brush is fine but mine came in blue instead of yellow.

This was the kit used at my rehab facility and I ordered it after reviewing several. Very helpful for getting those socks on/off and pants, pajama bottoms, etc., when there is a protocol which precludes bending over more than 90*. It's funny after a significant injury/surgery, the smallest everyday actions become imposible to do. This kit was the perfect choice.

I recently had a spinal fusion and wanted to be prepared since I can’t bend, lift or twist for 6 weeks.The Reacher is a little short. To pick up items off the floor I need to bend at the knees which is really hard on the knees. The reacher is 26 inches in length so if you’re are tall you want a longer tool. I am 5’ 7”. For reaching for something on the same level it-works great.The dressing stick is honestly my best friend right now. It has a plastic coating on the ends to not scratch up your furniture or faucets. It works great for pulling the stopper up on the tub spout to start the shower, pull my socks on, grab clothing to pull up. The L bracket lifts the toilet seat, open drawers.The washing sponge is useless because the plastic handle is so flimsy and sponges tend to accumulate mold and bacteria so not something you want to use with an incision. So plan on buying a real one. Found a great one on Amazon for about $10The tool to help put your socks on is too smooth so the sock slides off before you get the sock over your heel but that’s where the dressing stick comes in handy. I loop the hook through the sock and pull it the rest of the way on. Although I might need new socks by the time I’m done because they are getting small holes from the hook.I haven’t had a use for the extended shoe horn so far.All in all if you can buy some of the useful item separately might be the best way to go

If you've had any surgery that limits your ability to reach or bend this kit will make you feel less dependable on other which give you confidence and a feeling that you can get through the recovery process, and the price and quality are excellent.

Loved the “sock helper” still using grabber. The only piece I didn’t like was the sponge scrub. It’s flimsy and difficult to use

Decent quality for price. Will be a great help for my Dad who is having his hip replaced then knee replacement in a few months.
