Is it good for making soap

I'd give it a B for soap making. You have to prop up the sides with some books if you want it to be perfectly rectangular. But if you're not picky about the shape of your soap it's great! Soap pops right out!

Soap makers -- how many of these would I need for a 3-lb batch?

I use these to make my facial soaps and I use 24oz oil and it yields 35.47 oz . I never did bigger batches but you can work it out and see this works really great . No left overs exact.

Cup Size: 3-inch x 2-inch x 1.1-inch and it will make a 3oz bar of soap. I use it for soap making as well.
