You attach the rm2 connector that comes with your rode to the rode mic, then connect the rm2 connector to the elgato. With my new desk setup, I found it got in the way, both physically and visually and looked messy. Not to mention the springs would make an awful noise when adjusting.The Elgato Wave Low Profile arm is genuinely better in every way. It's highly adjustable, sturdy and very supporting of my microphone (A Wave:3 on a shock mount). It doesn't get in the way, as it can be neatly folded away to the side of the desk, or even behind your monitor if your setup allows. When in use, it doesn't obstruct the monitor, keyboard or mouse and you can genuinely forget it's there while playing.
