It's so fun to read!
Just like volume 1, Narita keeps an energetic pace throughout volume 2. Tons of tense moments and brutality, but it has plenty of fun and light moments to counter all the violence. Narita and the translators do a great job communicating character through speech patterns which is really helpful when you are constantly switching points of view. A lot of really striking and distinct characters appear in this book, and some characters form volume 1 appear.Be aware that this is essentially part 1 of 2. Volume 3 covers other points of view on the train and fills in some the blanks from volume 2. So to get the whole Flying Pussyfoot saga, you need volume 2 and volume 3.

Probably the most diverse cast of characters I've ever read! Great companion to the anime!
Such a well-written light novel. I fell in love with the anime and when I discovered the light novel and manga, I jumped. If you enjoyed the anime, I highly recommend reading both the light novel and manga. Some of the gaps in the anime are explained for you in these two media forms. It helps a lot! I don't think there's a cast of characters I love more than those traveling on the Flying Pussyfoot and their friends waiting on the platform in New York!

I actually got this for a friend so I'm not sure how the novels are compared to the anime, but I figured the source material must be brilliant for such a fun and ridiculous(in a good way)anime. I was pretty impressed by the packaging of the novels, didn't expect them to be hardcover, but it probably said so in the description which I sometimes ignore. Would probably purchase a couple of the novels for myself as well, not in the meantime since it's not a priority and the novels don't come cheap!

I liked reading this and volume 3 and watching the anime
I liked the 1931 arc and it sucks that yenpress hasn't done reprints for some other baccano! volumes like 2,4,and 6 because those volumes are extremely hard to find and luckily I got my copy of volume 2 at around retail price
