Excellent value, handsome, I'd have bought two if I ever needed to serve two lasagnas at a time
I'd been looking to replace my monolithic, heavy, one-spill-and-it's-warped-forever veneer-over-particleboard dining table for a while but the prices for tables like this one are double, triple elsewhere and they're also made overseas and no more impressive in person. Took a chance on Zinus and am very pleased. It's got some minor cons but I think they're outweighed by the pros.It was packaged very well and arrived without any damage. Easy to bring into the house by yourself. It's made of solid wood, no particleboard, no veneer, no melamine. Let me repeat that: IT'S MADE OF SOLID WOOD. At this price. Sure, it's pine, not walnut or mahogany. But it costs about as much as a really nice dinner out for two after Zumba class. And it's a sturdy, functional table that four people can sit at and have a nice time, maybe with a big pan of lasagna, some board games afterwards. Nicole will spill her wine as a distraction so she can cheat, but with a quick wipe and a blind eye, the table and the friendship should both survive (so long as as Dan doesn't mention the post-Zumba-class dinner). The tabletop is already assembled, with the side skirts and corner leg brackets installed -- all you have to do is bolt on the legs. To that end, Zinus includes the bolts, some nicely firm spring washers, and flat washers; all very high quality, with two full spares (two bolts, two spring washers, two flat washers). The real surprise is the included ratcheting hex key, which works really well. No more tightening a quarter turn, pulling the key out, putting it back in and tightening another quarter turn, scraping your knuckles on the skirt and risking stripping the bolt head each time. Why don't all 'assembly required' furniture manufacturers do this?! They also include a standard hex key for masochists, very inclusive. And the included greeting and thank-you cards are a thoughtful touch (I mean this sincerely, they're quite nice, I'll be filling in the thank-you card and mailing it back to Zinus, for the nice table). So the cons. Real nitpicks at this price point, but I'll mention them, because other reviews might make a bigger deal of them than they ought to.It's made of pine. It's finished well (the colour on the 'espresso' is a deep, rich brown that has a nice hint of burgundy if the light hits it right), but it's still made of pine. It will dent and mar more easily than hardwood. It's not hardwood. But if you don't knock the edges with a golf club or write a ballpoint-pen confession without a placemat, it should do okay. I haven't had Nicole over yet so I don't know how it will fare after a wine spill, but I feel confident. There are a couple of noticeable quarter-sized knots on my tabletop that can be felt when I run my finger over them with a blindfold on. And there is visible finger joinery -- that's the kind where two pieces of wood are attached to each other by joining two zigzagged edges -- both on the tabletop and on two of the legs. You should be able to see some in the photo I've included. Some people won't like it. Others will see it as proof that IT'S MADE OF SOLID WOOD. It's not a printed-on woodgrain pattern, it's pieces of pine that have been attached using a strong joint that can't be felt at all. Until we splice brontosaurus DNA into pine tree DNA and grow pine trees big enough to cut whole tabletops out of, finger joinery will have to do.It's a good table.

Good table
The table was delivered quickly, without any dents! It was easy to assemble too, especially with power tool in hands. It feels sturdy also, time will tell.
