This compelling call to discipleship urges readers to not just follow rules, but to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and authentically. Review: A Very Important Book for Every Christian - This is a great book that explains how Christ wants each of us to live our lives for Him. Being a Christian is much deeper that what the average Christian thinks. Some Christians are more spiritual than others, and is that important? Well, a wise person, I think, would consider the question seriously. This is the important issue Kyle Idleman addresses in this book. In the New Testament, people are called to believe the Gospel and to follow Jesus Christ. Idleman explains with many interesting examples and illustrations the difference between being a mere “fan” of Christ, and a true “follower.” He presents the call of Christ for the believer to be His disciple and to follow Him. Idleman does this by way of presenting many scriptures that teach that every believer is called to be a true follower. I found this book to be both convicting of my walk with the Lord, as well as a blessing. It is well written, and not a difficult read at all. I pray that every member in my church congregation, as well as all my family and friends would read it without delay.

Nichole is not a fan!
This book is amazing! I love when an author is straight to the point. I love the “not a fan” stories that are added at the end of the chapters. These are real people who are committed to following Jesus. After reading this book I better understand my calling as a follower of Jesus and I am committed to not being just a fan of Jesus but to follow Him in all areas of my life. I have been convicted, sharpened, and encouraged. God bless the readers of this book and may more believers take the stand to not just be a fan of Jesus!

A must read. A must study.
I read the original version of this book over a decade ago, so I was intrigued to see that it had been updated and expanded. The original book posed the question, are you a Fan or a Follower? The author meticulously walks the reader through the truth of Fan vs. Follower. This book carried some real truths in its pages. This book “has already called more than one million readers to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple--moving from fan to follower in their relationship with Jesus.” Scroll forward to 2024 and I find myself in a different place in my life. Seeing this book advertised, I began to wonder… again, am I a Fan or a Follower? Again, the author asks the hard truths that each believer can answer only for themselves. Am I a Fan or am I a Follower? My difference this time was I felt compelled to do a deep dive into this book. To really challenge myself to what it was telling me. To answer the questions, it asked. To ponder the thoughts, it shared. To face and define my truth. This is a thoughtful, challenging and while it is an easy read… it is not a easy study. That being said, it is a must read. It is a must study.

Wonderful Book
I love reading books by Kyle Idleman. He has a great knowledge of the Bible and he has a great such of humor. Reading one of his books is like having a personal conversation with a close friend and not a lecture by a professor. I have found myself laughing out loud at something he wrote and I have never done that with any books in the genre of religion. I'm 82 years old and have read many books and Kyle Idleman is now my favorite author , but he is human and does make mistakes. He should know that Jesus did NOT change the name of Saul to Paul! Paul is a pagan name! Enough said?

I read this book as an adult leading and working with teens and some of the key student leaders were also challenged to read it. It has been a great read and challenge to all of us on taking our journey with God to a more than ordinary level. A great book for mentorship.
