WE HAVE A WINNER!
I have several pairs of nice running socks. All of them work well for me for running. However, I was preparing for a 60 mile walk to fight breast cancer, and when I WALK on the road, I get hot spots and blisters every single time. I tried every sock and lube combo I could think of. 3 days before the walk, I came across Wrightsocks. I wore them for a short 4 mile walk at home and for the first time didn't have any hotspots. I quickly ordered 5 more pair for the walk. I still wasn't sure if they'd get me through 60 miles though. I ended up using them in combo with Vaseline on my feet. I stopped a couple times a day and re-lubed my feet with Vaseline, and changed socks midway through the day. (Note -The Vaseline only feels icky for the first few steps.) I DID IT! I made it the full 60 miles without getting a single blister! NONE! I guess I'm completely sold on the Wrightsock and Vaseline combo!

Problem with bunion and blistering solved?
I hope I'm not too eager to rate this as a 5 star, but this is what's been happening: I've been training for a 1/2 marathon, and I've got a nasty bunion on one of my feet. Because of it, I've been blistering rather easily, underneath and around it. I was blistering even if I was only running 4 miles some days, and kept breaking open the blisters I had, which were very painful. After some gel padding and care, I finally was able to heal the blisters, but with other socks I still had to wear some type of padding/protection on my bunion, or I would continue to blister. With these socks, after I healed the blisters (again), I decided to put them to the test and wear only the socks, without any padding/protection for my bunion. I ran 16.36 miles last week, and no problems--no irritation, redness, cracking, or blistering around my bunion! So, if there's a change, I will update this review, but for now, I am very satisfied with this purchase, and plan on purchasing more of these socks! They are very comfortable, fit snugly, and are true to size.

Works as advertised
I purchased these after a disastrous outing during the 2012 Air Force/Navy Half marathon when a competitors product helped turn my left forefoot into a blister the width of a tennis ball. With half the flesh flayed from my foot and the Marine Corps marathon just around the corner, my research led me to these. One month and 26.2 miles later I had not a single blister, and I have not developed since which is nothing short of miraculous. I run 20-30 miles a week and have extremely difficult to size feet, so there is always some degree of play in my shoe. Before I started to use these I considered blisters to be an inevitable part of running. No more!Cons: These tend to trap a lot of moisture. If you sweat a lot your feet may become macerated (pruney) by the end of your run.

Running II is not Running I
I've been running in Wrightsocks for as long as I can remember and have always relied on the first generation "Running I" socks. They are sturdy in construction, durable with wash after wash, and work wonderfully for long runs. I stocked up a long time ago but it was time to get new socks and now the "Running II" replaces the original. Personally, I am a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," type of person and I prefer the first generation, "Running I" socks - not a fan of the new ribbed "arch band" on the "II's". With that said, these socks do hold up well and have protected my feet on my runs. Still a quality product and will continue to support Wrightsock but wish they didn't add that "ribbed arch band" for added support.

The best!
What else is there to say?I'm a Florida native, so I'm used to heat and humidity, but not hills. I went hiking in the Tennessee mountains four years ago for the solar eclipse, and I got a couple of blisters. Nothing terrible, and not unusual. But then I found these socks! I just returned from a week of hiking in the mountains, and never even had a hot spot anywhere on my feet! I'll never go hiking without these again.

These socks really work.
I have used Wright socks (called Double LayR in the past) for almost 20 years for use as a running sock and never had any problems as long as you take care of the sock. Like all materials they eventually breakdown but I found the durability as good or better than other socks. Recently, I purchased a pair to use for a pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago. I walked 4-7 h a day and again no blisters. Many of my fellow pilgrims suffered from blisters even when wearing two pairs of socks. I wear 8-8.5 and used the medium wright sock, it seemed that this was a perfect fit but maybe right at the limit so if you are a 9 or a little higher I might recommend going up in size. Overall, I highly recommend these socks.

These really work!
I've been going on a 4-mile walk/hike every day in my neighborhood. It's the only exercise I can do while I'm recovering from brain surgery. But I developed horrible blisters and couldn't walk for weeks. I researched online how to best heal them and my doctor also mentioned blister prevention socks. I tried another brand first and even with mole-skin, vaseline and other approaches to blister prevention, I still got blisters and painful hot spots. Then I found these Wrightsock brand double-layer socks. It's the double layer that is the key to their ingenious design. The two layers rub together and there's no friction on your skin. I haven't had any blisters or hot spots since I started wearing these and I no longer need moleskin. I'm ordering more!

Don’t buy it for the style.
Sock is good, but not the style illustrated.
