It has been a conversation at the Thanksgiving table: what style of gravy boat do you like? I don't like any of the traditional style gravy boats out there nor any of the tureens with a ladle. I browsed through hundreds of listings on ebay and could not find anything I really wanted - until I found this gravy pipkin on amazon. It is perfect, unique, contemporary looking, and very practical. I think it is more practical than anything else out there. When I got it in the mail, I was very pleased with the quality. It is quite heavy duty and all I had to do was screw the handle on. I absolutely LOVE it. The only concern I have is whether the pewter coating can be dangerous to put gravy that you are ingesting into the container. I am not sure whether the pewter coating is only on the outside or if the interior has any pewter coating or not. It seems to be only stainless on the inside, but maybe some pewter on the pour spout lip interior. I don't think it will hurt. It is a beautiful piece. I am very happy with this purchase. Highly recommend.
