Everyone is sooo freaking dead in this book
One, now I have mismatched covers for the Amber Quartet, so thanks a lot for that Amazon. What the hell?! Release all the UK covers and not just this one. Two, this book was such a rollercoaster. The POV names changed to symbolise what each character was going through. Nightbringer got a freaking sad backstory and chapters. I enjoyed Shrike's chapters more in this book than the last one. Also, more new characters. Darin's character was also very nice. Can't wait for the last part.

Thrilling and action packed, tone takes a darker turn.
The book came in perfect condition and on time. No pages bent, no marks on the cover. This book started off strong and ended strong. The character we've come to love develop further and face more challenges. The tone of the book takes a darker turn and the mood is very bleak and hopeless for most of it, which I understand some readers won't like, but I loved. It almost seems to border on grim dark. The writing is beautiful as always, the words flow together so well.Helene is easily my favourite character, which is unfortunate since Sabaa seems to love torturing her the most. There's a lot of politics and scheming going around. It was a good time overall. The only flaw was that I found one of the characters' POV a little boring and meandering. Hopefully that will get better in the next book. Really excited for the finale, I can't wait to see how Tahir wraps this all up.

Just wow!!
You haven't read anything in YA if not for this book. Seriously, the whole series is the bunch of laughter, sentiments, frustrations and butterflies in your stomach. Sabaa Tahir is a legend periodt!

Book-5 star, packaging-3
The spine was a bit torn, so I am a little upset about it, but the book itself is good

Some stories stay with you…Sabaa Tahir’s Embers series is a bestselling series and after reading it, I can understand why. I was lost in the worldbuilding in the first book. Being used to reading lighter romance books recently, a high fantasy series was a friend visited after a long time.I admit that reading was difficult at times. Life gets in the way, but I made it to the end. And what an end it was. Many characters, and many stories within a story. At the end, it was greed, ignorance, revenge and loss. Too much loss. Putting words to my thoughts is taking time but I am getting their. After all, what is the biggest lesson of a fantasy tale if not keeping the will to soldier on!Instagram has multiple posts, reels and stories of readers lamenting authors, for the deaths in books. This is one of the few times that I feel like joining them. Based on the complexities of past, present, future, the Embers series makes its place as one of the fiction books with a lot of known characters, characters with a back story, characters readers were invested in– deaths.Elias, Laia, Helene, Kerrin, Izzy, Cook, Darin, Musa, Avitas, Arfa, Meherya, Rehmat and so many more. An Ember of the Ashes gives a bleak view of their world with the succeeding parts is a fight that is both internal and external as they seek to lay the violence at rest. This is not a review. I was not reading An Ember in The Ashes, I was experiencing it chapter by chapter of a single story, from the perspectives of multiple characters. If you love books or shows like Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, The Witcher, AN Ember in the Ashes is just the right next read for you.

LACKED SOME MAGIC..... BUT GOOD. (No spoilers)
The book is set in three perspectives- Laia- how she plans to thwart the Nightbringer's plans and fights her struggles, Elias-how he copes up with his duties as the Soul Catcher, Blood Shrike- how she deals with the stresses from Marcus, Keris and saving her family, her feelings for Harper...My opinion: It's good but somewhat lacked the charm and magic of the previous two. I say that because Elias's POV adds no further continuation to the plot and I felt it dull. Then most of the time in Blood Shrike's chapters, there was war and etc. Apart from the above things, the book is still wonderful and the Nightbringer details more in this book which was nice. There are some brilliant twists and revelations which pop you up. Let's see where it all ends....
