Be sure to cover your pot or pan and all is well!
Ive made several stocks using big stainless steel stock pots with this filled about 3/4 full with no problems. It handles the weight pretty well although it may not be recommended. It can handle long cook times. Gets hot enough to run a traditional pressure cooker. Cooks scrambled eggs like a champ. Its lightweight. The housing does get hot when cooking with it so be careful. If you spill or boil over, it could easily get into the dials, which makes it a little hard to clean. Compared to my glass infrared stovetop, I have to run this on 3 or 4 for a simmer vs 1 on my stovetop. Other than that, this is a great 5th burner or solid only burner if you need a backup way to cook your meals. With it being 1200 watts, it wont overload your circuit, which to me, is a plus. Would recommend. I bet it would work great for a hotpot, work hotplate, or for healthy dorm meals.

Works really well! Looks sharp!
This little, single-burner cooktop is a gem! It heats up pretty fast, and is simple to clean. And it looks really sharp!BOILING TEST (elevation 741'): With a cold burner, 1 quart of cold tap-water, and a cold pan (6.5" diameter w/ a cover), it took only 6 minutes to first bubbles, and 9.5 minutes to a rolling boil.NO PROBLEM WITH UNIT OVERHEATING: While the water was boiling, I carefully picked the whole thing up and slowly moved it to a different location. No problem. (I wouldn't have wanted to stand there holding it; but it wasn't going to burn me.) When I was done cooking, after about 3 minutes I could easily hold the unit.DURABILITY: Too early to tell.POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT: An indicator light (to the left) to show whether the power switch is on, especially since the on-off switch doesn't have any "catch" to keep it from being turned on accidentally. (The light to the right tells you when the heating-unit cycles on and off, but not whether or not the power is on.Conclusion: We're definitely going to buy another one. :\)ick

Working well so far
Update: Well, the Cusimax inflared single burner lasted less than 4 months before it stopped working, after it caught fire. I used it about once or twice a week. I would have used it more often if it didn't take so long to cook with. A pot of soup or stew could take hours to cook. The last time I used it it got super hot, I had walked away for several minutes as it normally took a very long time to start boiling liquids, and when I returned to check on what I was cooking, I saw that the range top had gotten bright red and was smoking, and just catching fire, so I turned the knobs to off, pulled the plug, took the pot off it and threw some water on the range as I didn't have a lid nearby to douse the small flames. I was relieved that I was able to stop the fire before it made my kitchen and house go up in flames. I'm guessing that the temperature regulator (whatever makes it turn on and off to keep it from getting dangerously hot) had stopped working. So I won't be buying another Cuisimax electric burner ever again. The one prior to this one that I purchased was the Cusimax infrared double burner. I used it for approximately 7 months, maybe once a month, before one of the burners developed a crack when it had not been in used and nothing had been on top of it, so I stopped using it. I thought it strange, but maybe it was a fluke, so I purchased another but with single burner. If I had known how bad these electric burners are, I would not have purchase them. Now I'm looking for a replacement, but reading the reviews for other electric burners/hot plates, whether ceramic inflared, or induction, or cast iron, the critical reviews scare me, so I don't know which one is the least likely to have problems. Seems all of them are now made not to last and suffer from quality control issues.Original review:Seems to work pretty well, though so far I've only used it a couple of times. I like it, I just hope it's more durable than my previous glass topped, infrared electric burner (an $80 double burner, one side cracked with no good reason after just 7 months of light use). I'll update the review if I experience any problems with this Cusimax single burner.

I am impressed.
I saw so many positive reviews I thought I would try this out. Well, you can use all your pans, they don't have to be induction ready. I must say, it heats up so fast, I am just stunned. My 12 inch, 3 quart sautee pan worked great and had even heating, no problem. This is my primary stove and cook everything on this. I have not tried my pressure cooker on it, but I will edit my post here if it works out. I loved the price; the fact I can use all my pans on it; especially the Amazon Customer Reviews. I've made 3 dinners already, omelets, stir fry, chicken-and-rice and was able to control that heat to my satisfaction. P.S. I was very worried about using an extension cord but the cord provided is sturdy and good length, I don't know what the specs show, but it looks to be about 3 feet and I had no problem with it on my counter to the plug in. However, if you do need an extension, this is a 1200 Watt product, double the watts and that is what you need for this. You will need 2400 to 2500 Watt indoor extension cord.

Update: mollified customer
I was initially unhappy with this product because the heating element came with a sticker label on it that was very difficult to remove and the instructions said the device will give off vapors for the first 15 minutes of use. I was, however, too eager to use it rather than return it. Actually works fine now and is attractive, lightweight, easy to use and seems easy to clean so far.
