Excellent Resource for ICND1 100-101 Test Takers
I recently took, and passed, my ICND1 100-101 exam with this book as the primary printed resource I used. Along with this book, I also watched the applicable CBT Nuggets videos and practiced with some live lab equipment as well as GNS3 (lightly). I found the best course of action (for me) was to watch the videos and take notes, read the book and highlight key points the first time through, and then re-read the highlighted material. The included CD has great practice exam questions and the test exam environment is very similar to a real testing environment. This helped immensely. Whereas I didn't find the included cheat sheet helpful (a tear-out included with all ExamCram books), I found that the book hit on all the necessary topics to take and pass the real test.Keith Barker's (the co-author), as well as Michael Valentine's, writing style is far superior to Wendall Odom (the writer for official Cisco Press books) in my humble opinion. Whereas Odom's writing is easy to follow and logical, it ends up coming off as repetitive and dry instead of uplifting and, dare I say, cheeky with Barker and Valentine.I greatly enjoyed this resource and recommend it to all Cisco test takers.

Not thrilled with Exam Cram
This book is ok,but not thrilled about this book. First off I am through the first chapter and it is irritating me. The kindle book has little video links throughout the book. They take you to the O'Rielly/Safari website and to video clips.....BUT THE CLIPS ARE ALL 30 SECONDS long. You have to sign up with O'Rielly and pay to get access. Why the heck would you drop in links throughout a book if they don't function, or only give you a snippet of info. Even if you call a 30 second video that cuts you off a snippet.I am going to try and read the rest of this book, but I am already disappointed with it. Don't advertise a $400 training site when we already bought the stupid book. It is like they are saying, "now you bought the book, lets get more money from you"

Excellent Final Resource Before the Exam!!!
Exam Cram was a great resource to prepare for the CCENT exam. I took the test today and passed with flying colors. There were several questions on the actual exam that are super close to what you get in this book. I will be buying the ICND2 book next. If you are studying for the CCENT I also highly recommend watching the ICND1 exam walk through by CBT Nuggets. Their exam question walk through was extremely helpful as well. Of course, you should read the ICND1 chapters in Todd Lammle's CCNA book first if you are new to Cisco for the solid base foundation! Bravo Zulu Michael Valentine and Keith Barker on an excellent study resource. One side note - for all the reviews that mention typo errors and incorrect answers; it is not that bad, and if you already know this stuff half way, you will know what the real answer is :)

It's good.
the cover colors are great, pages are white, all the words are spelled properly.....it's actually a helpful book when studying for 100-101 plus i know Keith Barker (not personally) through CBT Nuggets but I'm surprised he wrote this book and not Jeremy Cioara since he's the one who teaches CCNA courses.

so far so good
Book makes so great points that others did not. Its a great book to get directly before you take the exam to brush up on topics. But its also a great book to learn from. All around very solid choice.

Excellent. If you have done on-line classes and are getting ready to take your certification exam, this book is a great source of possible questions.

Too thin on the material
I felt it was too thin on some subjects and there were typos and mistakes in the material. It is a good study guide to prepare for the test because you can always use other material to study the subjects covered.

Not the most comprehensive CCENT book but a great start and handy for reading on the move.
I have a few CCENT books and found this one to be the most easy to read and understand. The book is definitely not as comprehensive as the official CCENT exam study guides but it isn’t supposed to be. This book should not be the sole resource when studying for the CCENT but used as a study aid. There are a lot of practice questions and exams tips included which are useful however the spelling in places is a little suspect. All in all a great resource which is small enough to read on the train without having to lug the official study guide around.*It is worthy of note this book is now out of date as the CCENT topics have changes slightly from 100-101 to 100-105 however this book is still a great introduction into networking *

Well worth it
Excellent book for preparing for the exam, I used it towards the end to see if I was ready for the exam and to identify any gaps in my knowledge. It definitely helped me passing my first attempt.
