Soft wood and smaller than advertised. But good value for money
Made of soft pine, some surfaces rough because of the way wood grain runs. Each 1/8" smaller in all directions. Manufacturer has not allowed for the width of the saw blades used in cutting the pieces nor the smoothing that is done afterwards. But for the money worth it.

Slight variation in size
The blocks are sanded smooth and are mostly uniform in size, though there is up to about 1/16 inch of variation. You will want to keep that in mind if your project requires tighter tolerances.
