The gold standard for instrument mics
Anyone who knows microphones knows that Shure is the refactor standard for micing all manner of instruments and singers. King among their mic lineup is the SM57. No doubt you’ve heard this mic thousands of times across all kinds of recordings. Add to that the Beta 52 for kick drum and mounts and this is a formidable kit for micing drums. I only wish Shure offered a kit with a couple of SM81s for overheads, but that would add to the kit cost significantly. If you’re a drummer and you don’t currently have a mic kit get this and a pair of SM81s and you’ll be set. This kit is a good value proposition for any drummer

Great mics for a great price
This offer is a steal, and the clamps that come with the mics are very nice. You'll need a heavy-duty boom or low standing mic stand for the 52A. Some of the metal washers had slipped out of their plastic bags during transit and I had to search through the case for them, but everything was inside when I received the package.

its what every major band and recording studio use.
this kit is great. the b52 is the standard in every world class studio. and the sm57 is the work horse for most every situation. great on the drums but its also great for most everything else. i use the b52 on kicks and on bass amps in my studio. i first got it because every major recording studio uses them and i can see why. there really isnt another option.

What a great kit!
This kit is a great deal for the price. While it serves quite well as a drum mic kit, you also have the option of breaking out the SM57's for other general uses, and the Beta 52 works well on bass cabs. Given that SM57's are still an industry standard for recording and live performance, you really can't go wrong with this kit.

Great mics with crappy clamps
A drummer friend of mine had this pack and that is why I decided to buy it for myself. I got a chance to use it extensively recording for about 6 months before he moved on to another musical project. Everyone knows the SM57 is a good mic so there is no need to go into that. The Shure kick drum mic is solid, well build, had a nice design for the microphone input and attachment to a mic stand and more importantly packs a nice clean punch for the kick drum. It's nice, accurate and clear. I use it up close to capture the punch and click while using a 15" PA speaker I converted into a microphone placed about 3ft away to capture most of the low end. It all mixes together great. With that said, the clamps that come with this package totally suck. They are build well and fit on pretty much any drum I've tried them on but no matter how much you tighten them down they end up coming loose. No one wants to be in the middle of recording the best drum take and then go to the recording to find out that the clamp loosened and the mic was resting right on the drum head for the whole recording. It's not a random defect either, all three of my friends and all three of mine do the same thing. The pretty much just sit in a drawer in the studio un-used and I use regular mic stands for everything, sort of disappointing but the mics are totally worth it.
