In my own experience however: I work over a wood bench, I lay the stone over small microfiber towel and it has a enough friction to keep it in place for sharpening knives and chisels. **Q: Is there anything to do for breaking it in?** A: There are no directions as to how to break these plates in. People all over the net and YouTube say to break diamond plates in. Is it OK to break them in simply by sharpening or do you have to use a flat piece of steel. I don't have a flat piece of steel so what should I do? **Q: I have seen some people say that this stone is only six inches long, despite it being listed as eight inches. What is the true length?** A: The Diamond sharpening plate has the following dimension I am a Metric guy from NZ so you have to convert to imperial yourself.
