Firstly, I'm not an electrician but I have a homeowner's understanding of it. It took me longer to do this, maybe two hours, because I didn't want to electrocute myself. I replaced a failing GE mechanical timer of ten years and knew that I didn't want another one to run our pool pump. I took photos of the then current layout, hit all the contacts with a multi-meter to verify what was hot and when and then drew a diagram as it related to the new unit. From there it was a fairly straightforward job of remove & replace. Adding the jumpers so the timer would be powered was new and it was nice that they supplied the jumper wiring. The timer programming was fairly straightforward and one mistake I made was easily corrected. Twenty four hours have elapsed and the timer has been accurate and continues to work correctly. There is a company provided video on YouTube that was helpful. I found it best viewed at a lower speed to catch everything. Only complaint is the difficulty in reading the writing on the panel where the wires are actually attached. The positives include the timer's battery backup and the power & load indicator lights. For the price this seems like a bargain and we'll see how well it holds up.

Excellent product, highly recommendedI bought an Intermatic Mechanical Water Heater Time Switch to save on the electric bill for our water heater. This Intermatic product turned out to be a TOTAL piece of garbage. The first unit stopped forking after three weeks, they sent a replacement and it stopped working after three months! There is a design product with the electric timer motor, it is too week to turn the on and off switch. There are YouTube videos about this problem. The company, Intermatic does not want to fix this problem. In summary DO NOT BUY the Intermatic Little Green Box Water Heater timer, it's piece of garbage, you will have only problems with it.Make sure to buy this product, it's a breeze to install, supper easy to setup and program, very well designed.I highly recommend this product.

This is the second season for the timer to control my pool filter pump (2 HP). This replaced the mechanical version which gave out after several years. I found this unit easy to program. Programing is quite easy and very flexible. A different schedule can be set for each day of the week or have one schedule applied to all days. Looking forward to this digital unit to live longer than the mechanical one.

Works great, I had an electrician install it for my pool pump. It has a timer I can set, it can also run outside of the set time without messing up the set time. It works great and its so nice not to have to worry about turning the pool pump on and off.

Replaced the old style timer with this unit. Overall glad I did. The biggest plus is you can have several programs for all kinds of instances. For example, I run the pump minimally during the week and longer on the weekend which is when we use it. My pool's heater senses the water coming on so I save money by only running the heater when we really use the pool.The downside is the connection. Really not straightforward but as usual, Youtube is to the rescue as there are a few videos from the manufacturer on how to do this. Also, programming is ok but not totally intuitive and you have to read the directions to get a holistic understanding for what is happening. No way I can just say to my wife, go flip the switch like to old style. - she will not touch the breakers which I find is the easiest way to just turn on or off without touching the timer). Wish the display was backlit but doable.There is a wi-fi version of this timer with an app available that had I seen it, probably would have gotten instead but at the end of the day, now that it is set, I don't really have to mess with it anymore. Good value for the money.

It worked fine for a months, than the timer just did run as per schedule, tried resetting so many times, I think it worked for 2 3 days then stopped. Tried for two months . I have two the other one is fine. Same programming same setup. And Amazon support gave a hell of run around to refund or replacement. SUCH A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE TO UNINSTALL AND INSTALL NEW ONE. Electrician charge $100 an hour.
