Typically 6-8 hours is enough for the soap bars to completely harden. Have fun!

Q: What is the cleansing component of this soap? Its my understanding most soaps use lye or sodium hydroxide but I don't see that ingredient listed?

To answer your question it is important to understand that there is a difference between 'melt and pour' soap making and 'cold process' soap making. In the 'cold process' of making soap, different fats and oils like shea butter are combined with lye (which technically refers to sodium hydroxide) to produce solidified soap in a chemical process. This is called the 'saponification' process. Lye is a caustic substance and can damage your skin if you are exposed to it. Out melt and pour soap making kit is an easier, quicker and safer way to make beautiful and professional bars of soap. The soap base has already gone through the 'saponification' process, and is now composed of fatty acids, shea butter and other natural ingredients that soften, clean and moisturise the skin. This soap base makes it popular with experts and beginners alike and with all the other contents of the kit you'll have abundant creative options. It is also a safer alternative to the cold process soap making because you don't have to handle lye and can use our soap base straight out of the package. All you do with it is melt it, add the essential oils, colors and dried flowers and pour it in our mold. With our kit comes an instructions page.
