Review: Bright and shiny! - LOVE THIS STUFF!! So bright and shiny and easy to use and simply beautiful! It's all I can do to not spray paint every damn thing in the house lol My bedroom and bathroom have many silver and mirrored accents, and this chrome spray paint works beautifully on everything I've used it on. It goes on smooth, it's super shiny, just a beautiful true Chrome color. If you're using it on items that were previously Chrome just make sure you've dusted it well and cleaned it well, if any rust has occurred on the item take 0000 grade steel wool to it and then rinse and dry well, it will bring it back to life and make it look brand new. I've also used it on ceramic, plastic, and wrought iron, with amazing results. Here are some tips: Be patient and go slow! You'll save yourself time in the long run, by not having to start the project all over again because of drips and dust particles etc. If you go too heavy with the paint and see drip marks, it's because you went too heavy with the spraying. If this happens, let it cure for at least 2 days, then sand down with ultra fine steel wool and start over. If you want to avoid that whole fiasco then read on... I give whatever I'm going to paint (except glass and ceramics) a once-over, or more, with the 0000 grade steel wool. You can get a pack of 12 on desertcart for five bucks and it lasts a good long while. For restoring Chrome you need to remove any rust with 0000 grade steel wool, then spray paint lightly (no primer needed). I find that two coats are usually sufficient. Don't overpaint or saturate the item or you'll get drippage, just spray light coats every 20 minutes until you achieve the desired effect and coverage. I let it cure for 3 days before handling. If it's an item that will be handled regularly or be subject to moisture, I strongly suggest a clear top coat, which you can find in several finishes with Rust-Oleum. For ALL plastics and ceramics, go over it with the steel wool that I mentioned, rinse and dry, then prime with Rust-Oleum 2X Flat White. For light colored plastic I do 2 coats 20 minutes apart, for darker colored items 2 to 3 coats 20 minutes apart or as much as needed to cover the color completely. I've never needed more than three coats on anything. Then let it dry for an hour and apply the Rust-Oleum Chrome paint. Spray lightly! It's easy to want to go crazy with that paint but don't do it or you will wind up with drips! Be patient and give it a light coat every 20 minutes until you have the desired effect. I let my items cure for three or four days, and if it's an item that will be handled often I use a clear top coat. For wrought iron plan on at least three coats of the paint primer I mentioned above, then proceed as mentioned above, leaving it to dry 20 minutes between coats. However I do NOT recommend using steel wool on wrought iron as the fibers will catch on the surface. If you feel it needs some sanding use an ultra fine grade sandpaper. For ceramics or glass, do not sand at all, just make sure the surface is clean. I find using a foam window cleaner to work quite well. Then go ahead and give it the primer treatment, going very lightly every 20 minutes until it is covered. Wait an hour then proceed as above with the chrome spray paint, spraying light coats every 20 minutes until you have the desired effect. Let it cure for a few days before handling it, and like I said if it's a item that will be handled frequently I strongly suggest a clear top coat finish, which I would apply 24 hours after you are finished painting it. Also I recommend giving the finished item at least a few days to cure. * if you are going to spray paint lamp shades make sure you prime inside and outside of the shade. I tend to use several coats on the inside because I found if I don't the outside painting will appear blotchy when you turn the light on. If you proceed patiently, your patience will be rewarded with a beautiful item that looks like you just bought it. Enjoy!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When sprayed on plastic, does it stay sticky?**
A: Buy a can of Rust-Oleum American Accents Ultra Cover 2X Semi-Gloss Black Spray Paint and Primer in 1, 12 oz at WalMart for under 4 bucks. It's specifically made for plastics. Drys and doesn't leave fingerprints. Then after 2 coats (give each coat about 1 hour to dry), then you can use the 2x metallic paints which are also under 4 bucks for 12 oz. cans. If they don't have a metal color you want, like copper, you can still use it on the 2x gloss black used as a primer, and barrier from the plastic. It'll bond to the paint instead and come out brilliant after 3 to 4 coats. Yes, I realize this is a 2.5 year old post, but I thought it'd be helpful to those who are shopping now to know how to use this paint properly. :)

**Q: Can this spray work on a chrome car bumper?**
A: There is a line in the instructions on the can that says "bright coat paints are not recommended for outdoor use'. Too bad you have to buy the can to be able to read that. It should be stated in the online description.

**Q: What's the difference between oil rubbed bronze and metallic dark bronze if any, i'm looking for the one that looks less black?**
A: I have to be honest, metallic is my favorite. But I use gray, white, black, and yellow too. My house is yellow, white and gray and black trim. I like wrought iron, so if I want something to match that I use a shiny black. If I want a dark metallic I use an antique version. It usually is darker with the metallic paint than the shiny metallics. I also sometimes use more than one color to get the look I want.

**Q: Would this work well on a clawfoot tub (the feet)? Any recommendations on what would?**
A: I would use this Rust-Oleum Bright Coat Metallic silver on the feet of your tub.. This is really nice and shiny. I am very pleased with the look. It's quality spray paint...5stars

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful gold spray paint

Very happy with this gold spray paint! Turned my husband & I’s hand mold into a beautiful decorative piece that matches with our other gold decorations. I love that the finish is a little bit shiny. It was easy to use and didn’t run. It only took a couple coats to get the piece fully gold!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love this product, color cap matches the paint color perfectly
*by R***B on May 24, 2026*

Love this product, color cap matches the paint color perfectly What I like: 1 - Amazon/Vendor shipping, always making the effort to deliver on time. This pushes a lot of other retailers to do the same. Arrived packaged and on time. 2 - Color/Cap matches the paint perfectly, which I needed to repaint some old stands for a glass coffee table. 3 - Color finish is really nice and looks premium, nice can pressure (seems to vary, so mindful of how close you need to be to the project), which really helps. 4- Adheres very well and evenly (~1 ft away) to sanded aluminum surface Nothing I don't like about his paint, super happy the color matches well, and the pressure is good. Other notes. I wasn't about Rust-Olem and also tried the Krylon Colormaxx K05588007 with a similar color pallet CAP, but the color was way off. Instead of gold, it was rose gold, which was not what I was looking for.
