Ok
The washing line won’t stop extending, needed to be tied round the plastic hooks twice.

Design fault: plastic cleats break. Need to buy metal cleat hooks
We have bought a number of these Minky retractable lines over the years and they continue to share same design fault. The plastic cleats used at base of unit to support the line will snap at some point. The best work around if this happens is to buy a marine quality cleat hook ( try screwfix ) and mount this just below the unit (see photo). Hope this helps and adds extra life for your Minky.

Won't last 1 Year Design Fault
Design Fault!!We've had two of these washing lines the first we used to leave outside on the wall in all conditions. The replacement we kept inside the garage and both have suffered the same fault where the plastic has snapped at the bottom where you wrap the washing line around.3rd one has done exactly the same Poor Product

Brilliant line spoilt by cheap casing
Started off so well . Easy toInstall and easy to use then after a month the washing line suddenly dropped. On investigation I discovered that the plastic body you have to wrap the line round had snapped off. See pics. Anyway amazon are sending me out a replacement but I have a bad feeling it’s a design fault. We shall see.

Poor quality
This product initially works well but the plastic is of poor quality and breaks after a very short time. Mine has broken after only two months use, which is not value for money. The line has to be secure to, what I can only describe as a 'button' of plastic at the base of the container. This does take a lot of strain when the line is in use but should either be engineered of better quality plastic or made of a more durable material. I am on my third one now, the first failed after only 3 months and the second lasted a little longer. I am now looking for a better made one.

A cleat is helpful
Installed with the supplied screws but used better rawlplugs. In use, found it difficult to ensure the line was taut until I bought and attached a 'cleat' to the wall so we can wrap the line round to create tension. Also, being next to the retractor unit, hooking the line over the cleat when not in use means the retractor unit does not get moved by the wind which should help it's longevity. You will also need a washing line pole to maintain the tension. My wife finds it easy to use.
