A rarity: a dual biography that really works. As a writer, Irene is not afraid to show tenderness, and her imagination and story are strong enough to make this expansive work interesting throughout. It really warms and touches the heart. And the head. It's an important book ethically, arguing that the standards by which we hold human life dear also apply to the creatures that live beside us.So, this book is much much more than a stylistic triumph. Irene and Little Belle's story is the greatest I've read when it comes to humans and animals coming to understand and sympathize with one another. Of course, Irene is doing the writing here, and speaking for Little Belle, but the quality and depth of her empathy is really unmatched in my experience.Two similar ideas have come to rule a lot of my life, and both are pushing into a new, more enlightened era: the relationship between humans and wild nature (other species, landscapes/places), and the relationship between humans and the animals that live with us (pets, farm animals, &c.). This book addresses the second of these as well as anything I know. People of all ages, nations, and stations can benefit from reading this story. Thank you do much for living there dogs and giving them another chance and a beautiful life. A small part of the fall story was when it was time for them to leave their bodies and the beauty in us being there for them and making that decision with them. I also have the severe neck pain you describe especially after hard task and my beautiful gaffoon pit bull is always here to love me as is my husband. I call here name and no matter where she is it what she doing she comes running knowing mom is always love. I so related to this book and hit summaries of the deep beauty dogs possess and the love they deserve, like us, no matter how wounded. Thank you

I’m just starting to read this book . . . I am hooked!! So very touching . . . only problem is that I didn’t know that I should have added some Kleenex boxes to my Amazon order ❤️💔 This book is written by an amazing, compassionate woman - what she is doing is wonderful - she is an angel. If you really love animals, you should read this book. Just don’t forget to keep the Kleenex near.

I know the story behind this book and still wanted to read it. This book was written so well, Irene does a wonderful job thinking and talking like the dogs that you feel you are right there with them going through the trauma that they are. I have cried since the first page, have to stop and wipe my eyes to continue reading. Anyone that loves dogs or animals period need to read this book, but get a box of kleenex ready. I congratulate Irene on such a wonderful story and praise her for all she has done for many animals and dogs. They are so lucky to have her. Buy this book and read it, you will not be disappointed. You will be amazed.

This is the story of a little dog that captured the hearts of so many people around the world on Facebook. I am one. Her story is both heartbreaking and heart warming. Forced to live in a small cage for much of her life Little Belle was finally rescued by Irene in The Netherlands. Little Belle lost her sight but not her love for life. She and her brothers and sisters who are also "special-abled" highlight their adventures with Irene on Facebook. My heart broke when Little Belle died but now she is our little angel girl who still brightens our life. You will smile, cry, and love her story.

This book was written by Irene Raadshooven who lives in the Netherlands. Irene has strong passion for animals with disabilities, and animals that were in unfortunate situations until Irene came along. This is a inspirational story (and a tear jerker ) where she gives pets a second chance at life, and what the real world is really like. Little Belle was in a puppy mill for 12 years living in a cage and never knew what sunlight was or anything in the outside world. This is a must read book. Irene has many dogs and horses. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this book for myself as I’ve followed belle and her channel for a while and was excited to read the book. It is more than I thought possible in so many ways a true story of courage love determination and compassion. Sets your emotions on fire, and really makes us realise what’s important in life. A true story of sheer love.

It's bigger / thicker than I thought, which I love, perfect value for money, the cover is a little cheap - ish, but it really doesn't matter, there are some pictures, which I wish were in colour , but it doesn't matter that money, the front picture broke my heart. My Mum loves it, as a gift from me, great for anyone with a blind dog, like us, that have a gorgeous dog with no eyes also, called Stela , I'm sure I'll end up reading after my Mum

I loved this book. I have been following Little Belle for many years and I purchased the book as soon as it came out. The terrible conditions that she lived in before she came to Irene are heart wrenching. But having found that there are loving , caring people in the world, Little Belle survived and proved that her magical spirit can bring like minded people together from around the world. This book shows that a rescue dog is ever so grateful. This book is told from the the eyes of Little Belle and Irene and what their thoughts and feelings are and might be throughout the same experiences. Other dogs are rescued and it give hope for those of us that love dogs. Pick this book up and you will not regret it !
