Well made, but too big
I love the protection this case offers. However, I found it to be just a bit too large to the point it made the iPhone unwieldy to use.I have fairly large hands and long fingers, so I found that the rather small/thin iPhone 5C was a little tricky for me to keep from dropping without some kind of case. This case is pretty awesome in its design, unfortunately, it grew the little iPhone into a monster. Even to do the simplest things, like typing one-handed, required me to shift the phone around to reach the left side of the keyboard (I'm right-handed). It's rather large width forced me to lay the phone loosely in the middle of my hand to perform many functions on the touch-screen, rather than holding on to it. This defeats the purpose of having a super-grippy case, in my opinion. Too bad, because I was otherwise impressed with it. Great protection, but not the most user-friendly if you like to work one-handed.

Sturdy, Great Protection!
This is a great case that protects the iPhone 5c very well. It's sturdy and has a non-slide rubber-type outer surface with corner bumper guards. The face has a sturdy screen protector that just lays on top, non-adhesive, so it's not a permanent fixture. It's held in place by the edges of the wrap-around outer case. I've had no problems interacting with my iPhone screen with the screen protector on.I was looking for a sturdy case with a screen protector and belt clip/holster. This has it all. As a bonus, it has a portal cover for the camera. I just open the portal and easy access to the camera, no problem. Previous phones have had the camera lens cloud and scratch up. This case protects the lens. All the buttons to the side are easy to access.I did take the advice of other reviewers and cut an opening to the ear section and the microphone section. That was easy and I've not had any problem hearing callers and no one has had any problems understanding me when I call them.I'm so glad I had the screen protector! Recently I turned an office hallway corner, there was a piece of metal protruding from the wall and it scratched the screen protector but not the iPhone. Hey, I can always get another screen protector but I can't afford another iPhone! If you are looking for a case that fully protects the iPhone from hurricane winds, heavy, Noah-like floods and occasional toilet plunges, then get the Lifeproof iPhone 5c Fre Case, which Amazon sells. The Griffin Survivor case protects from the elements, like if I get caught in a rain going to my car or out on a walk. That's good enough for me.

Does the job..too well
I purchased this after dropping my old phone in some water. I then bought my first smart phone and wanted it to be super protected. I looked at a bunch of competitive products, lifeproof case, otterbox, and this one seemed the best for the 5c. Since it is a new model, not a lot of cases had been offered. I purchased this one so that I would not have to worry about dropping it or scratching the screen. While it is very durable (dropped it numerous times without incident), every time that happens the case needs to be clicked back in. One side always comes undone. Not a big issue. There are three big issues I have with this case however. One is the size of it. It is super thick. When I finally took the phone out of the case I was surprised at how much slimmer it was. So basically, if you are a guy, sticking it in your pocket really stinks. Not only is it really bulky (don't even TRY to put it in jeans pockets), it is also pretty sticky. So if you decide to put it in said pocket, expect to have the entire pocket turn inside out every time you take it out, and shoving it back INTO the pocket is only marginally easier. I know it comes with a clip, but I don't like clips. If you do like clips, disregard the last few sentences. Next is the issue of hearing phone calls. Bottom line, you really can't. It is water tight for the most part, but that comes with a price. the hole for the earpiece has a little black strip on the inside to repel water. It does a great job with this, but it also repels sound. So if you want to hear someone on the line as clearly (mostly) as you would without the case, you need to open the case and take a knife and gently cut the little piece off the inside of the earpiece. I did this very easily and can now hear a lot better, but it will potentially let in water now so it kind of defeats the original purpose I had when buying the thing. Lastly, NO ONE CAN HEAR ME...EVER. I don't know why this is, but I have mixed results when trying to have conversations. There is no little black piece to take off here so I am stuck with it until I get a new case. It's not a BAD case, that's why I gave it 3 stars. I would just look elsewhere if you have a problem with any of the above issues.

This is the best phone case I've run across
This is the best phone case I've run across! Installation is simple, it fits perfectly, and all the buttons work they way you hoped they would. Twice as substantial and half the cost of Otterbox. It is made to resist water, so there was a covering over the ear hole and the mouth piece. That caused low volume and garbled votive transmission. That was a little more protection than was convenient and I removed the tape type coverings which cured the problem. I have an Otterbox and some other case for this phone, but after this I'm stuck on Griffin cases.

Very good case
It was between this case and the Defender. I went with this case for a simple reason.....because the cut outs for the home button and top speaker on the Otterbox don't make sense to me.The survivor came in the retail packaging, and was shipped in a timely manner. The fit and finish are very good, though the protective screen is a tad bit loose...but not unacceptably. I read the comments about muffled sound, but it's understandable given the level of protection. I removed the tiny piece of tape covering the top speaker, and the problem solved.....Realizing that this lessens the protection.Overall a great product... I wish I could give another half star.

Excellent Phone Armor !!!
I purchased my Griffin Survivor Case for my iPhone 5c after a recommendation from a fellow co-worker and have yet to be disappointed. I have owned my case for over two months and am extremely impressed with it. This case has turned my sleek, slippery phone into a heavily armored and well protected device. The rubberized slip resistant buttons and case design fit my phone perfectly. Even the well-made detachable belt clip is easy to use and perfectly complements my phone. A truly excellent product at a great price.

Griffin Survivor Military Duty Case for iPhone 5C - Black
I bought one of these for my partner's iPhone 4 two years ago (he's a cabinet maker and needed something heavy duty to protect his then new phone). Having seen how robust it was I had to have one for my iPhone 4, which, incidentally, I'm now able to sell on as it's in great condition. Of course I didn't hesitate in buying one for my new iPhone 5C.While it keeps my handset safe (ultra important as my daughter and I drop it regularly!), it's not as robust as the last one I had, and the inbuilt screen is slightly flexible, meaning that it's a bit wobbly & doesn't sit entirely flush with the telephone's screen. The screen also seems to be less scratch-proof, and I already have one big scratch and a couple of smaller ones on it.When I was using the iPhone 4 and the new update came through (IOS7 I think) with the 'dashboard' shortcut screen, I found it virtually impossible to swipe the screen up and access it. You can do that easily on this phone. For someone like my chap who's in carpentry, this case is great because all of the covers really do stop the phone from getting dusty. On the last one I had I needed to cut all of these opening 'doors'/covers off as they became flimsy. So far I haven't needed to on this (but it's early days!). It's worth pointing out that my partner's case is still 100% intact after two years and I'm sure that the fact that I let my daughter play with the phone doesn't help it's moveable parts to stay intact!I do find the new charging cable a bit tricky to remove from the phone due to the thickness of the case. I haven't had any problems (yet) with the apple supplied cable, but I recently bought a spare one of these cables (a cheap one) and have found that it's broken within a week - this won't have been helped the fact that it's hard to remove it without pulling at the cable itself, and breaking the connection. Anyway I see this as a design fault of Apple/companies that copy them, for not giving us a big enough area to grip. I don't think Griffin could have made it any easier than they have given the size of the case. The cover on the camera on this case is on a pivot, so you can move it out of the way easily. Having said that I have chosen to pull the cover off the camera in order to take spontaneous photos, which you just can't do otherwise.Of course it does make your phone much bigger (and heavier) and thus it won't fit into a mobile phone compartment in a handbag! Small price to pay, and it's not as if it's hard to find in there!!Just wish it came in different colours to the boring black.

Incredible investment!
I have been using this case for just over 2 years now so I think I have the perfect amount of experience to review it.Pros:-This case has survived COUNTLESS drops over years with very little impact on the overall product-This case is designed perfectly to survive many drops with the rubber casing that sticks outwards of the screen being the vital part of a e design-The screen protector has worked well and left my phone perfect clean for years now and is quite easy to clean.-The access points are very easily opened+closed and they shut nice and tightly.-The home button is easily accessed and has a nice rubber feel.-The volume buttons are easily accessed and work perfectly the majority of the time.-The rubber texture on the back allows for the phone to be placed on a slanted surface.-The case has fit perfectly my iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.Cons:-With several drops, the black plastic section of the screen protector gathers some bumps and scratches with make the case overall look a little worse-The very corners of the screen protector are incredibly hard to clean, even using cotton swobs isn't enough l, thus a lot of dirt has gathered along the edges and, most clearly, on and around the front facing camera.-The rubber access points on my case, after some wear and tear, eventually ripped off and I only have one of them left.-The plastic edge part that connect to the case are quite fragile and, currently, two of the edges have broken off, but the screen protector still works fairly well (pictured below)-The rubber corners of the product can easily gather dust and dirt which make the case look quite ugly- this's too is very hard to clean.-The bulkiness of the product makes putting your phone in your pocket quite a task, but I've got used to this over the years. To conclude:The device has saved me a LOT of money and I highly recommend it to anyone. Despite some issues later in its life span, it is certainly worth the money.

It has great bumps and give good protection
The cover picks dust quickly. It has great bumps and give good protection. The clip is not so strong there is a chance of mobile fell off.
