Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range S2 Dimmer Switch ZEN77 800LR, White | Simple Direct 3-Way and 4-Way Solution (Works with Regular Switches, No Aux Switch Needed) | Z-Wave Hub Required

I highly recommend Zooz switches and dimmers. Everything about this switch makes you feel you have purchased a quality product. The packaging, the instructions, the flawless way it includes itself, web site, and customer service are all first rate. The feature that allows you to use a three way switch and wiring currently in place to turn the light on or off from another location saves you $20 for the GE accessory switch, and some time compared to the GE/Honeywell/ultra pro switches from Jasco. Note that you turn on and off, but cannot dim remotely with an old manual switch. There are also no fins you have to break off. Dimming works well with a truly dimmable LED, like FEIT. I’ve installed hundreds of home automation switches, and these are the best, but although I gave 5 stars to this switch compared to others, a couple of issues miss actual perfection. First, the paddle assembly appears to be about 1mm larger than other switches. If your house is 25+ years old and uses the thick, hard Leviton switch plates, you may need to buy new plates. Don’t force the switches into the plate. They will bind and will eventually not operate properly. Either file the old plate larger (a PITA) or drop a buck or two on a new plate (recommended). Many of the new plates are screwless, and it is a nice look you may want to include in your upgrade anyway. Regardless of the brand of switch, it seems I have a 50/50 chance of breaking the old, brittle multiple gang plates anyway trying to wrestle all the switches into place. Also, unlike the GE/Jasco, these switches do require that you know which wire is your line (hot) and which is the load (light), and they come with nice labels for the wires and excellent instructions. No big deal, and I think it is safer to know which wire is hot anyway. Finally, there is capacity. These are 300 watt dimmers rather than the 500 or 600 watt capacity on Jasco and some other HA technology. The Zooz switches are made for the 21st century. They use neutrals so that LED bulbs are welcome, take up less depth in the box and have no heat fins. They play well with LEDs (though beware that many “dimmable” LEDs are flickering junk, no matter the switch). At 300W, these dimmers will not handle a vanity mirror light with a large array of incandescent bulbs. If someone insists on keeping and dimming a power hungry dinosaur like that, don’t use the Zooz dimmer. This one is good for 5 60w bulbs, but some builders thought 6 or 8 would look luxurious. Enjoy!

I have had.a set of lights on a four way system that I have wanted to make a smart system for years except I feared the hassle and expense of wiring this system. Multiple way systems are complex to wire and get working for those who don’t wire these often and other systems require the additional expense of buying multiple units just to operate one set of lights. This system allows one to automate a four way system (three switches and lights) with just one unit (this one). The instructions were excellent. I carefully evaluated the wiring in each box to determine the proper placement of this unit. I took my time and wired the box as described in the instructions and to my delight, the switch worked properly on the first attempt. I am also pleased that the recessed lighting on my system responded well to the dimmer. Very pleased with the outcome of this project and will add Zoom switches to some of my other multiple way lights.

all my zooz switches and scene controllers work without issue and i will continue buying from this company for my z-wave needs.

Plusses: 1. Can do 3-way, 4-way, and 5-way wiring using existing switches except for the one being replaced by the Zooz ZEN77 - no satellite switches necessary!!! 2. easy to install, good documentation provided, more available online. 3. Solid constructions. 4. Lots of parameters for personalizing the configuration. 5. Z-wave control works flawlessly. 6. Control from paddles allows on/off/fade-up/fade-down and double tap for (customizable) full brightness (see video). Minuses: 1. Quality control. One of the units arrived dead on arrival. Amazon replaced it rapidly. One died 3 days after installation. Zooz said that they would replace it. Haven't seen the replacement yet. I bought a replacement on Amazon, because I was impatient. 2. Important to choose the lights carefully. Zooz blamed the brand of LED lamps that I was using. Not only did they flicker but they destroyed the ZEN77! You should check their website for bulb recommendations. I replaced all of our lights and now everything works well. Dimmable LED lights are still evolving. You might have to try several brands to get good results. Summary: In short, I love the product, if you get a working ZEN77 and it works well with your lights, this product is unique in being able to handle n-way lighting with a single unit. Support was very helpful and responsive. I expect that the replacement unit will eventually arrive and when it does I have a place for it! TIP: I add and test all units close to the hub on a table close to my computer, where I can set the advanced parameters and test them before installing them in the wall. (see video.) It simplifies things enormously.

Easy to install and add to network. Very few issues pairing.. some flashing with Creek LED bulbs at one point in dimming.

The dimmer is easy to install—just replace your existing switch and follow the basic instructions, which are pretty straightforward. Pairing it with my Z-Wave hub was quick and hassle-free, something I appreciate since not all smart switches make that process smooth. It works well with Home Assistant, which is great because I use it as my main smart home platform. I’ve also been able to set custom button actions and enable the detached bulb mode, which gives me more control over how I use specific lights. One of my biggest positives is the solid Z-Wave connectivity. The signal range seems strong, and it’s been reliable in my home without needing a repeater or extra hardware. The packaging is well-designed and includes everything I needed, which made the setup process feel organized and professional. But here’s where it gets tricky: while the switch itself works well, the manual doesn’t do a great job explaining all its features. I found myself searching for information online—specifically, I had to watch a YouTube video just to figure out how to use the different modes and what each of the options in the app actually does. I wish the instructions included more details about how to set up third-party systems or explain features like delayed start, off duration, and the various button actions. It would be helpful to have that info upfront instead of having to hunt for it. As someone who likes to understand how things work, I found the lack of clear documentation a bit frustrating. While it’s not a dealbreaker—since I was able to figure things out eventually—I think the product could be much more user-friendly with better guides. The switch performs well and integrates nicely, but a little more guidance would go a long way for users who aren’t as comfortable diving into tech forums. Ultimately, it’s a solid choice if you’re okay with doing some outside research, but I’d love to see Zooz improve the documentation in future versions.

Bought this as a replacement to a failed ZWave switch. Easy to setup and quickly recognized by SmartThings (and Alexa). One observation - this device responds quicker than my other ZWave devices. 3-way did not initially work, then I read the instructions. Clearly stated, this device is to be used in conjunction with a traditional mechanical 3-way switch. The replaced device used an electronic “add on” switch, which does not work with this device. I replaced the add-on with a mechanical 3-way and voila, all is good. This is actually a good thing as you don’t need to replace any traditional switches on the same circuit as this device.

I installed some of these on 4-way circuits and they work perfectly. I also like that this model is not as deep as others and does not require tabs to be removed. Works perfectly and intuitively.

Standard 3way switches work. Seems to Function very well
