Great Book
Well done introduction. I disagree with brushes and color selection, but every watercolor hobbyist has different suggestions. The instructions are what makes this a great book for beginners.

Great Book, But Not For Beginners
This is a great book for someone who has dabbled in painting and drawing in other mediums and wants to try watercolors. It's not for someone who has never painted before. I used to paint in acrylics and I had some issues with the book. For example, the author always references his premixed natural colors, and never uses standard color names. Although he does tell you how to mix his "natural" colors at the beginning of the book, I don't think this is sufficient. After going through a few of his lessons, I ignored his color names and just mixed what I thought was correct. The lessons in the book are very well written, but I would recommend a book that uses standard color names and more detailed descriptions of basic watercolor techniques for the absolute beginner.

I recently joined an art class. We are currently trying out watercolours so I decided to buy a book to help me. This book is aimed at absolute beginners like me and the tuition is set at an appropriate level. It is beautifully illustrated and has the most gorgeous photos. I have now painted a few of the photographs in the book. Step by step tuition is provided for each project and the photos have been selected as being feasible for beginners to attempt. This is a great book which I heartily recommend.
