Really put it to the test!
Last night I was melting down some beeswax caps mixed with honey to make my own beeswax bar, and I ordered this product to be my filter as the last step in the process.I used about half of this whole package of cheese cloth folded up over an empty and washed out milk carton and secured it with a rubber band (see photo). I forgot to take a picture of all the stuff that stuck to the top of the cheesecloth that didn't make it through the filter but it really worked at seperating the honey and wax from the debris. I was left with a nice clean chunk of beeswax that seperated from the honey while I let it sit over night. Now I'm not super familiar with cheesecloth so this could be normal, but the edges were a little frayed. Nothing some scissors couldn't fix if I was worried about it, but the edges weren't going to be near my wax anyways so it was okay. Also, 9 square feet was smaller than I thought! I measured it though, and it really is 9 square feet.Over all I would recommend this cheesecloth, it worked great even with some super hot and thick beeswax (that stuff is like hot glue!!) And was able to give me a nice clean chunk of wax as a result.

Nice quality, and finer than other "natural" cheesecloths I've bought
This is my favorite natural cheesecloth so far, so I'm inspired to write a review. One problem I've had with natural cheesecloths is that several brands have fairly large holes, even if they are labeled fine. The "ultra fine" designation on this one is actually accurate. This morning in making almond milk I doubled the cheesecloth out of habit and it was so fine that the milk didn't strain through at all. From now on I will be using just a single thickness of this product for most uses! The price of $5 for a 9 inch square is a bit higher than other brands, but I will save money by not needing to double it. I usually use a square about 6 inches by 6 inches, so I expect to get about 18 uses out of it--or about 27 cents per use.For my purposes that's cheap enough. For those who use a lot of cheesecloth, you might consider buying in bulk at a fabric store or online fabric retailer. Many readers may already be here because they want a natural cheesecloth. For those used to "conventional" bright white supermarket cheesecloth, I'd like to note that this is muslin beige color. I prefer natural cheesecloth since I see no reason to put bleach in the environment as this color is just as nice as the white. I also find the idea of bleach having been on the fabric unappetizing, though I'm sure it's all washed off.

Works well but slightly hard to clean
Growing up in Chinese culture I've always loved drinking sweet soy milk but I stopped after my favorite place that made their own soy milk/tofu in Chinatown NYC closed down. Recently I got into making my own soy milk using dried soy beans and it's been an awesome experience. However my soy milk would always have some of the left over soy bean grinds in my drink which got kind of annoying despite how many times I strained it with my sieve. I finally decided to purchase this cheesecloth which is huge so I fold it up four times and use it to filter out all the soy bean grinds in my soy milk and it's been perfect, I haven't found any soy grinds in my drink anymore. My only gripe with this item is that it can be hard to clean completely sometimes and getting each and every little bit is too much of a hassle for me so I just leave it. I also implore everyone who uses it to wash it right away as if you let it sit for too long the smell really gets absorbed into the cloth and then you gotta let it soak for awhile in soap to get rid of any lingering smells. Overall I am happy with the purchase and if I ever need a cheesecloth again I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Good Cheesecloth but not so good of a value
I usually always have cheesecloth in my kitchen to use for food preparations but ran out so ordered this one because it's 100% natural cotton.I was a bit surprise to find how small the package was for the price compared to other cheese cloth purchases of the past.I used it to prepare Indian Cheese and it worked extremely well with a double layer for straining the curds and squeezing out the liquids. It appears to be strong, holding it's shape. None of my curds tried to leak through as I squeezed out the liquid. However, after cutting a double piece for my strainer I had about half of the pack left. It cost me $2.00 to cut a piece of cheesecloth for which to strain my cheese!I have no complaints other than the fact that it seems a bit expensive for the amount that you get, but if you are looking for good cheesecloth and don't mind the price you will probably be happy with this one. Order more than one pack though because you're going to run out quickly!Next time I'm thinking of just trying a very clean flour sac towel and save the money. I'd forgotten that my Indian friend used to use one to make her cheese. It's washable. Just make sure it's rinsed well!
