Finally a Step bit that cuts metal more than once.
In the past I have purchased different brands of step bits to cut through metal several times. FINALLY, this bit cuts and cuts and cuts!

Not good for stainless steel. So-so for iron.
At first, I thought this step bit tool was ok, but I really had nothing good to compare it against at the time. It drilled structural steel and did a better job than what was advertised as M42 cobalt step bits (which I now know was falsely advertised), so I thought at the time, this step bit must be good. Wrong. Once I received more drill bits to try and compared it to a couple of real M35 cobalt drill bits and a different step but altogether (Dewalt), I discovered how poorly this Jerax performs. There is day and night difference. The Dewalt, real M35, and M42 [that might actually be M35] bits can go through stainless steel. The others seem to barely make a tiny dent in the surface of stainless steel and just go in circles without much progress. I drilled a stainless steel drum, and the only ones that would perform were the aforementioned ones.

Does the Job Well and Lasts.
I used this tool to drill a 0.750 inch hole though some light-gauge aluminum. The hole was clean and burr free. I checked the sharpness of the tool after using it and it appears to be well constructed out of high-grade steel. Don't expect to use this to drill through 1/4 inch thick steel boiler plate because even the best drills would eventually dull under that kind of use. But for light jobs on aluminum, copper, or brass, this tool will hold up well. I would highly recommend drilling a 1/4 inch pilot hole first using a conventional drill and the job will go much faster and easier. These types of step drills work best to enlarge existing holes rather that drill though a blank metal plate. Just a small trick of the trade to give better and faster results. I would definitely buy this drill again.

Fantastic
Cuts through metal like butter. Deep separation between sizes so you know when you reach the size that you want. Great price. I am very happy with this purchase.

Did not expect much , since it was cheaper than the Klien Step Bit I had. But was surprised how good it is. Would bore fast.
