Very fine birding binoculars. Including good offset for using with or without eyeglasses. I couldn’t believe the clarity and brightness when I first put them to my eyes compared with binoculars I had previously used.

They are quite clear compared to other options in this price range below $500. I'd go as far as saying a bit clearer than the Vortex options priced more expensively. Overall construction is solid. I have to nit pick that eye caps don't have a way to hold them like the front lens covers. Gotta hold them in your hand when using. The adjustment for your right eye is also a bit easy to turn and it does turn once it brushes against clothing. A locking option should be included on any pair above $200. Field of view is noticeably smaller than other 8x I have used, but the extra clarity makes up for that.

Mine are the 8x42 and they are excellent. Sturdy build, quality materials and the focus ring is a beautiful, solid machined metal with excellent knurling. Min focus distance rated at 5.9ft and my pair does considerable better at well under 5ft. Image quality is great, nice bright colors and the optical coatings keep everything bright and effectively eliminate flare and ghosting. I have had several sets of Celestron ED binoculars and the Mavens are a nice step up (and pricier). I would appreciate a larger FOV but I guess you can’t have everything at this price point. The lower FOV probably helps keep these optics sharp *almost* to the edges. VERY recommended.

Let me save you some time. I did the research and read. the blogs, and watched most of the videos on both binoculars for a month straight. If you want amazing starting binoculars you can start with Vortex Dimonback HD 8x42 they are great. but if you want little more quality. Here is my compartison. first I bought Vortex Viper HD 8x42 and wow. they are so clear. and amazing. for $780 Canadian. I love good optics. Then I wanted to find something just as good for my Fiance to do birdwaching. But I didn't want to spend another $780, After 1 month of research I Decided with configance to get Maven 8x42 C1. when I got them I comparte them to my vortex vipers hd. after much testing. in the dusk, in the parks, in the day, birdwaching, etc. I would say the clarity is equal. construction is equal. warranty looks like its both life time. they only difference is field of view on mavens it is smaller. only 341 feet wide at 1000 yards. and my vortex Viper hd 8x28 same size, have 409 feet wide at 1000 yars. there fore. I use my vipers i like the wild filed of view when you looking for birds its easier to find them. but if you look at more distant objects it doesn't matter. Quality is on par. and its much cheaper. for same quality optics. If you buy mavens c1 8x42 you will be very happy. I have both now. and they are both awesome. one for me and one for my Fiance. My advice, is go to the local store that has vortex brand and try the vortex vipers hd 8x42, with 409 feet field of and see the field of view. I set my eye cups on the third setting not all the way up. its perfect. then try another binocaulars any brand with 341feet of veiw. and you will see difference. then you can decide. if you don't mind the field of view. then maven c1 8x42, is the best binoculars on the market hands down for that cheap of the price. and as good as the vortex vipers. if you want bigger field of view. then pay a little more and get the Vortex Vipers HD 8x42. and you will be very happy. I hope this helped. have a great day.
