Does this cut the towel before it comes out of the machine?

The paper towels will feed out of the machine but they will not be cut. You have to lift the paper towel and rip it. There are also settings within the dispenser in which you can set the length of towel dispensed, trigger sensitivity, etc. I have one of these dispensers and I do like it. I use it to dry my hands instead of using all my regular Bounty paper towels.

can generic paper towels be used, or will it only work with Georgia Pacific towels?

Hello, This is Sandy with Georgia Pacific. Generic paper towel rolls will not fit or work properly in this dispenser. It is designed for use with towel refill options: Georgia-Pacific 26490, 26491, 26495 and 26496. Thank you.

Can you adjust the size towel it puts out?

Yes, there are 3 very small dip switches on the right side behind the cover. One setting automatically makes a towel ready, one offers 3 lengths and the other does something else. It will hold the 800 ft towles, but we have better performance from the 600 ft better quality (thicker) ones. Batteries last a long time D cells included. I've had 2 in my office for a few years and just replaced 1 that gets more use.
