I know this thing has been the butt of many jokes (which is probably why I hadn't gotten one before now) but I have to say that this thing works great. I have really fine hair which makes it a pain to cut - even just shaving all around with a clipper guard. Because this thing vacuums the hair up away from your scalp it works perfect for fine hair. The only complaints I have is that one of the guard-tube things broke after light use and it is kind of a pain to mate the hose to my Dyson.

I must say that opening the box, reading the instructions and seeing all the little pieces was a little - no, a LOT - intimidating. But mobility is getting to be a problem for this octogenarian and I'm sick and tired of paying ridiculous prices for a shampoo and haircut only to come home and straighten out a mess myself. My hair is fine and short and "ragged" cuts simply will not do. So......in desperate need of a haircut and not wanting to try yet another stylist, I decided to just go for it. After all, they say the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is three weeks. It was soooooooo easy! And my hair is cut evenly and exactly the way I like it! The most convenient vacuum cleaner I had was a 40 year old Electrolux which will still suck the carpet off the floor. And as I learned, it will suck the Flowbee right against the scalp when you have the shortest adapter on it! Thankfully, I was working on the neckline, so no damage done, but I will probably try to work the Flowbee vacuum into the budget soon. I used three different adapters and have used my label maker to mark #1, #2 #3 to remind me which ones to use in case I forget. I am sooooooooo happy! Great product! And no more sitting for an hour waiting for someone who doesn't know how to manage his/her schedule, then coming home disappointed once again! Doesn't get any better than this!

It's painfully loud near my ears and super awkward to use. I certainly wouldn't use it on myself. It should have come with the angled piece for going around the ears and back of the neck but it didn't. Had to order that separately. We use it but it's not something I'd buy again.

Gets clogged, must dissemble and clean

My son in law has used one of these for years. He has short hair style. My hair was long and needed something that would do a nice cut and help me with a bit shorter style. I watched a few videos and hot to work. It did a great job of cutting adter I got the hang of bouncing it. Very happy with the results and no hair to clean up after I am finished.

Do you have straight hair??? Do you want to keep it short all the time?? Then the flowbee is for you. This will never take away from a hair salon by no means. I like the ladies telling me I have nice hair and then taking me over to the shampoo bowl and shampooing my hair best part of going to a salon if you’re a guy!!! The flowbee keeps my hair short and it takes me about 30min to get the cut I want. You have to have hair that can be sucked up and pulled straight so it can cut the hair to right length. DOES IT DO A GOOD JOB??? YES!!!! But when you first get the Flowbee you will need to practice with it so don’t go short the first time. I just hate to make appointments that I miss and I don’t get into a salon and get a hair cut that’s why I bought the Flowbee. Now I can make the appointment and if I miss it then I can Flowbee it. Love having options and saving money WOW what a world to live in.

We were given a flowbee as newlyweds over 25 years ago. We are still on the same model we started out with and paid $60 way back then. This new model will be a Christmas gift for our new son in law. It is the greatest invention ever. We've saved hundreds of dollars over the years. Occasionally my now 19 year old son went out for a 'professional' haircut...he always came home disappointed and frustrated until the flub grew out! Mom's flowbee haircuts are the best and cheapest and quickest and least messy and least ichy and ... and... and... Where do I stop?!! I am NOT a haircutter, but you can [almost] do no wrong with this wonderful appliance. Please don't ask how I HAVE managed to goof us a handsome young man just before a special date! (Let's just say, dont get in a hurry.... don't make quick, quicker by forgetting to put on the spacers.)

After meeting someone in 1994, she thought my Flowbee was completely silly so I ended up throwing it away and for the next 10 years I had "hit or miss" haircuts. That relationship ended and I bought another Flowbee. Now my haircuts are near perfect every time. I trim every 3 to 4 weeks so it looks nice all the time instead of getting sloppy as you hold off getting another cut to save money. It's always free and convenient. If you haven't used one before it may take a few tries to get your hair looking exactly like you want. Yes, it's seems like a silly gadget especially as I hook it up to my shop vac but it really works well. The stronger your Vacuum, the better cut you'll get.P.S. In my opinion, the Flowbee is best just for guys. Girls hair often needs more "detailed" attention. The Flowbee basically just cuts hair shorter and cannot do intricate styling.
