I guess it's some kind of fake leather, but it feels high-end to the touch, and in case you are concerned with such things, it looks quite professional. I would feel confident taking this on a job interview. And it's useful enough that I might take it with me every day to work.Word of warning: it's not very roomy. If you want a big, thick binder to hold a lot of stuff, this one is not for you. It's slim, and you'll want to keep to the essentials. I absolutely love that it comes with both a 3-ring binder AND a clipboard AND that both are removable individually.My purpose in buying this was part of my GTD (Getting Things Done) system, a la David Allen. He talks about having different contexts where you can do different kinds of tasks. For example, some of my tasks require being in my office, with access to all of my tools, notes, and supplies. But I wanted a portfolio as one of my contexts also. So I can write some of my tasks in a @portfolio task list, and I can carry the portfolio anywhere. So long as I have my portfolio, I can do those tasks. These are tasks like drafting ideas, meditating on ideas, any sort of writing or thinking that I can capture on paper for later processing. My kindle fits nicely inside, so I can also read things as part of my @padfolio context as long as those things are on my Kindle. Since you can email documents to a kindle, my padfolio is a very useful mobile office.The zipper compartment feels too narrow to fit anything but maybe some small papers, so I use an inexpensive 3-hole zipper pouch in which I store two kinds of pencils, a pen, a quality eraser, a brush for brushing away eraser rubbings, and a pack of post-its. I also have some of my important @padfolio to-dos written on sticky notes stuck to the left side of the portfolio when open. And I keep a small stack of blank copy paper in there, which I have three-hole-punched. That's for drafting ideas.Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I recommend it to anyone who has similar uses in mind. I don't have or use a tablet, but I think a tablet would fit nicely in the place where I put my kindle.

From the picture and the price, one might think this could be a low-end or cheap product. But having purchased it and receiving this zipper padfolio having it in-hand, it far exceeds my expectations and looks to be a $40-$50 item. I paid $15.99, and it is a steal. It looks very professional. The construction is solid, clean and sharp. Don't dismiss this product because you do not recognize the brand. I never heard of Samsill before. But, it looks like it was made by a higher-end brand name. It is not super fine high-end feeling leather or anything, but it looks very nice and serves its purpose very well and gives you a professional look for sure. It is made of Nappa Leather. You can wipe and clean the smooth outside surface with a moist/wet cloth. There is no logo or brand name on the outside, except on the metal zipper-pull etched on the pull surface which is not noticeable. The padfolio un-zips completely to open it flat, and you can do work on a table or on your lap. The zipper wraps-around the padfolio. The zipper is large and durable, and it functions very smooth. Plenty of room to slide your tablet into the soft-lined interior tablet pocket. Comes with the pictured full pad letter-size 8.5" x 11" writing pad. It does not come with a pen, but it does have a pen holder where you can place your own pen. There is an exterior document pocket you can place some documents, pamphlets or a folder for quick access. It does have a little bit of give if you pack it with a lot of papers and folders and stuff and expand it to make it puffed-up, but not an extreme amount. It is very stylish and professional looking accessory for your personal and business needs. The actual item looks a lot better than pictured, and I recommend this item even at full regular list price. Color is Black. It is Made in China. If you need a zipper portfolio-type product for general business, interviews or other important happenings, this is a very nice product at a very nice price that will serve your needs well.

Perfect portfolio.. Has all the features you could ever want.

Very good quality. It's hard to find an affordable one that ticks all the boxes for what I need. This one does all of it except the placement of the pen holder. It is next to the zipper and I find I cannot use it as it interferes. No big deal, but it was one feature I really wanted to have. Not a deal breaker as the rest of it is fantastic.
