If you are an avid gardener who likes to put up items for winter use, or you purchase your beef and pork once a year, you will find this item to be an extra sense of security. Recently, my freezer was left open with devastating results. I had just finished stocking it for winter, and lost half of the items when I discovered the freezer had been left open for a long period of time. After installing the item I used a hinge pin to drop down through the loop instead of the lock. I gave a heavy lecture on if I found the pin missing to all who needed to hear. I am monitoring the situation, and if the lock needs to be used in the future I have it on stand by. It was super easy to install, and the lock is very nice quality. I will recommend to others who have a stand up freezer as they seem to be more susceptible to this type of situation.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How can you get the 90+ pounds pressure to make the pads stick, especially on the vertical?**
A: It isn't necessary. Just follow the directions that come with it (they send you a little pad that scratches the surface) and it will adhere just fine with pressure from your hands. I'm a small woman and I had no problems with it. Give it time to cure before you hang a heavy padlock on it. I didn't like the one that came with it, I kept forgetting to take the key to the garage so I swapped it for a combination lock. I know there are reviews that say it doesn't hold but I haven't had issues with that and mine have been on for at least two years.

**Q: How wide and high are the pads? How long are the arms?**
A: Pads are 3.5 x 4 inches; arms are just under 6 inches.

**Q: Will this lock keep a rottweiler from eating the contents of my fridge?**
A: This lock is easy to put on and so far has kept unwanted visitors out of my freezers (people and Boxers).  Don't know about your Rottweiler. Just remember you will have to unlock it each time you want to open the fridge.  I think it is a good, cheap option to try.

**Q: Is the entire thing made of steel or are some parts made of plastic?**
A: No, not all steel nor none plastic....however, it is a strong adhesive bond that is very secure. I have not had a problem with it and it's been on my freezer for more than 3 years. Hope this helps.

I live with my grandmother who is senile. Not only would she constantly be taking food out of the freezer that she should not have, but she would often leave the door wide open at night. She was ruining lots of food and wasting everything and eating until she was sick. This has solved the problem perfectly. I cannot say I really like the way it looks, but that is a minor price to pay for the benefits of having it on the freezer. It was very easy to put on and it adhered very well. There's no way that she could pull it off of there. I put this on the freezer about two weeks ago. I would recommend this product for anyone that needs control over who gets in their fridge or freezer. There may come a time I might have to get one for the fridge, too.
