I have an older model without straps on the back. Has anything else changed?

Hey Bart, nothing has changed since we launched this kit. Yours should have straps on the back, otherwise it wasn't from us.

I wonder why they chose a guy that is using the fire bellows backwards for the display photo? He's supposed to use to blow through the wide end.

Works great in the rain and wind. Used it for a week of hiking and camping, great product and affordable

is this pouch waterproof?

No. It is made of a cordura-like material. The zippered access is not waterproof. There is a drain hole at the bottom. Most items inside are packaged in plastic bags. I repacked the contents into small freezer bags. Not everything inside needs a waterproof barrier.
