Do all of these have the paper in the ears making a crinkly sound when you move/touch them? If so, why? It seems odd to me.

Yes, all of the plushes have the crinkly paper in the ears. This is designed this way because this plush is meant to be a baby doll/toy and it supposed to be a sensory motor function to little children. Its supposed to be soothing and "distracting" to entertain. I hope this helped!

Is this item new? Does it come in the original box?

It's new but it does not come in a box. It comes in clear plastic.

It says it takes a AA battery but other reviews say battery cannot be replaced. Which is correct?

Batteries cannot be replaced. All tags do not state what type of battery is used. There are no seems to open to replace batteries.

Can I remove the embroidery with a stitch puller?

It is so tightly machine stitched on that I would be concerned it would rip the fabric/fur of reindeer. A suggestion would be to stitch what you want on a separate fabric/fur and attach it to the hoofs of reindeer.

This stuffed animal is a definite winner!

Gave this stuffed animal to my great-granddaughter for Christmas who is a little over three months old. Thought it was cute and she would like the music when her Mom or Dad pressed the ‘hoof’. It doesn’t play the entire song of ‘Rudolph’ but at the age any musical tone is intriguing. Plus, it is cuddly when she gets a little older and can hug more. Highly recommend!

I ordered this for my granddaughter’s first Christmas. It is not extremely soft and does not have a battery pack. So, when Rudolph runs out of juice, it will lose part of its charm. Other than those issues, it is a cute Christmas gift that sings part of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

My baby loves it

I believe there are other brands that sell look alikes. I can only speak to this one. The quality of the material is great, the music is just enough without being annoying. I like how they have the crinkle in the ears. It’s just the right size for my baby who is starting to grab and hold things. I highly recommend!

Absolute perfection!

This was my sons favorite Christmas toy when he had his first Christmas, back in 2017. Of course I went and bought my daughter the same one since this past Christmas was her first! I have 2 with the older of them being 2 years old, and let me tell you, it STILL plays the song and lights up! It hasn’t fallen apart and is now his and her favorite toy for the holidays. Left in the picture is the older one, the right is the newer one so you can compare wear and tear. Would definitely buy it agin if we decide to have more kids!
