I am in love with this
I am in love with this. I've used it to paint two couches and am so happy. For faux leather you have to use an adhesion primer first! Otherwise it will dry tacky. What I did:1) Sand down the leather some2) Use deglosser or acetone or denatured alcohol. The deglosser goes fast, so if you're doing something large use one of the others. Just pour some on a rag and then rub it in, you'll be able to see some of the shine go away.3) For faux leather, put on a couple coats of adhesion primer. It's a white liquid that comes in a bottle. I used less than 4 ounces for both couches. After the coat dries (it'll be tacky) add one or two more coats. Since it dries tacky you'll want to do this in the same painting session that you plan on doing the first coat of the Angelus, otherwise it will probably get debris stuck to it.4) Going from black to mint green I had to use maybe 4 coats of paint. For orange to tan I think it took three. Let it dry thoroughly in between coats, maybe 30 minutes to an hour. It doesn't take much! I bought a quart for each couch, off of the Angelus website. I've only went through about half of it.5) After that dries, add a sealant. I can't tell a huge different between the glossy and the medium finish. Each couch took maybe an ounce of sealant. That's it! I was able to do each couch in a single evening, with maybe 2-3 hours of work each. It's super easy to use and hard to mess up! So far there has been no wear -- on the tan couch I discovered a bottle of vinegar that had leaked out and sat on it for a day or two (who knows?) and after I wiped it up and it dried I couldn't tell that it had been there! My dog has also jumped on the couch a couple of times and I haven't had any problems there.
