FEED AUGER PROOF OF CONCEPT DESIGN
3/8" drive is very desirable for feed auger experiment. I bought two of these auger flights to fabricate into one single auger flight. You get approx. 16 inches of flight. I was able to combine two to get approx. 32" of flight. The material was quite durable but easy enough to fabricate into one auger. I am quite pleased with the quality and dimensions. I cut the tip off back up inside the flight approx. the length of the drive shaft portion (approx. 8-10inches) of the untouched auger, using Harbor Freight Dremel cutoff blade. I used 4" side grinder to cut flight welds to 3/8th's shaft. I pulled the severed shaft from the flight & then inserted the other untouched auger drive shaft up inside the flight where the 8-10:" of tip were. My objective was to make a feed auger.. All welded up with ease & worked as expected.

Dug 100 holes in no time!
Just used this great tool to dig 100 holes for Christmas trees in the back hay field. It's sticky Oregon Fir tree forest clay. High in mineral, great at holding water in a dry summer but very difficult to dig in. The clay sticks to everything. I have planted hundreds of plants here and when we decided to put in Christmas trees for our grandson's future, we we dreading the planting. We used an old extra heavy duty drill, started up the generator and 100 foot electric cord and went to work. About every ten holes we had to clean the grass and clay from the tip, but it wasn't hard at all. The holes are exactly right for tiny trees in pots, but some of the trees were much larger. For those we drilled the hole and then used a root cutting spade to give the hole just a bit more room sideways for the bigger root ball. It took us two days but it went well and this baby auger did the trick. You must use a heavy duty drill in tough dirt. It isn't a magic wand, but boy did it save us time and backs. Ten second per hole! Honest! Thank you for such a great product.

Goes beyond its intended purpose with ease
Very useful I install for a satellite tv company and I use this to help me dig the hole for poles to mount the dish to and I have not had any major issues with it it is very sturdy and with the right drill it can dig in gravel and most types of soil with ease I would suggest using a drill with a secondary handle for safety

Huge back saver
At 60, I was looking for an easier way to dig 4x4 post holes for my garden fence. By using this auger drill, "digging" was fast and easy. I used an electric drill with a long extension cord for added torque. You must hold the drill steady should you hit a rock. What I liked the most... no lower back pain, no hand blasters, no torn skin if I had used a manual post hole digger.I plan to use this auger for my plants and bulbs.
