Astell & Kern PEE51 USB-C Dual DAC Amplifier Cable - 39.37 in. (1.2m)

Bought this for intermittent use of my HarmonicDyne Zeus headphones with either my phones or tablets, all with USB-C connectors. Works perfect! In comparison with either a simply USB-C to 3.5mm DAC and a less expensive USB-C DAC, this is bliss. More than enough power to make my headphones come alive. Rich and full sound in a simple plug-in device. I've only tried it on my Android devices so far, today I'll be taking my iPad Pro for a spin, but I don't anticipate any issues. Excellent value for the money!Update: So I've been using this for awhile now, primarily with my Moondrop Kato IEMs. Still wonderful, still a joy to use. I've since learned that they don't support Apple Lightning connector, so shoppers should bear that in mind. It works fine with my Apple Mini 6th gen (USB-C connector rather than Lightning).There is a one-star review that states that Tidal freezes and I've duplicated that issue. On my Android devices it's caused by attempting to give Tidal direct access to the DAC. If I don't do that, there is no issue. On my devices I prefer to pipe things through USB Audio Player Pro, which packs its own USB driver. Pushing Tidal through that app eliminates the problem. It also allows maximum bit and sample rates from local files or from Qobuz.So, yes, after several months I'm still in love with this DAC.

I am absolutely astounded at how much better this A&K DAC sounds than the various cheap offerings that are either bundled or in the lower segments of the aftermarket. I value sound, I have several pairs of headphones and found myself disappointed as dongle after dongle just showed anemic sound quality.This offering is a gigantic leap in quality above most USB-C mini-DACs, and does well to offer a value point below spending hundreds of dollars for a real independently powered (plugin or battery) standalone unit.Sound is clear, bass and treble are both more extensive and natural, tonal accuracy is more developed and this solves the real problem I had: most dongle-type DACs are "flat" and fail to reproduce the quality of the audio even with super-sensitive BA-based IEMs.The only advisory for future buyers is that this has real hardware and heft to it to transform the audio. It also can get warm if you listen for an hour or more, but these are readily acceptable items for a tiny DAC that does SO much for the most common audio source we use every day - our phones.

Great sound but drains the battery on my phone big time. Also only works on one app. Doesn't work on YouTube or other apps when listening from an android. I have lg v series for audio. This is better, but not worth the price or extra hassle of carrying a dongle that's easy to lose.

I bought new headphones for my laptop, Grado 325x, very good headphones, but they sounded muddy, so i took them home and plugged them into a High quality high end DAC, night and day difference. So I bought the for my laptop at work and WOW, they are great, this little DAC is amazing. Music is fuller, better clarity, bass etc. People use words like organic sound, or linear, I have no idea how organic sounds like. Buck up, and just buy these, actually totally worth the price, you can's say that much anymore.

The DAC died after only 18 months of light use. The warranty expired, so I am at a total loss. As a result, I will never buy another Astell & Kern product.

If you plan to use this on a laptop without USB-C ports, buy some Type-A male to USB-C female plug adapters.It does use the devices power, so using a wireless charger for my phone works well.Worth buying if you have wired headphones/buds and a phone with no phone jack.

I'm not sure they even make this anymore (it has been sold out and "unavailable" for months), but just in case they do I feel like I should relay my experience with this product. I bought this thinking Astell & Kern - widely known for their high end high quality hifi DAPs would really "put their best foot forward" with their first dongle DAC in order to win new customers to their higher end products. And sure enough, the sound quality and performance of this thing is top notch. But there's a BUT. BUT the build quality is horrible. The connection cable is loose and the usb connection actually moves slightly in and out as you touch the device leading to constant cut-outs in audio as the connection to your phone comes and goes as the device moves ever-so-slightly. And to make matters worse, while they went all out with the high end dac chips and aluminum casing, they cheaped out on the 3.5mm jack connector of all things. The connection has been janky since day 1, and now after almost a year of occasional use the connection is so weak that the jack basically slides in and out freely so the dongle is only useful when kept absolutely still otherwise the plug just slides out. And so after less than a year I am buying a new dongle DAC because this one is useless. It sounds great, if only it wasn't built like garbage.

This is the PERFECT addition for someone who has a great pair of wired headphones but wants to use their phones for music streaming. This DAC heightens your phone's music ability significantly and brings to life your music catalog. The sound is much more rich and full, the clarity and soundstage is so much better. I can't recommend this enough for anyone who loves music.
