Wash 'em in HOT water to get them to true size
SHRINK 'EM - Out of the package I was worried. They seemed like gangsta/basketball length. But I washed them one time in HOT WATER. Brought that cotton down dramatically in size in all dimensions, including length. They are also pretty stiff, I assume due to some kind of starch during manufacturing. I imagine washing them a few times would be the simple answer to how to get them to relax.LENGTH - They are indeed what I consider to be "Hiking Shorts" length. (HOORAY!) A little longer than the gym shorts we wore in the 60s, not as long as a pair of "Captain Stubing's". The inseam measures right at 6 in., as the ad copy says. When I'm seated, the hem is about 10 in. above my knees.COLOR - I ordered British Khaki. It's pretty dark brown. It actually looks like the Amazon image when you select "Denim". I like it. But I'm pretty sure it's not very close to Brit Tan.POCKETS - Three pairs of pockets. Hand pockets, front cargo pockets, and rear "wallet" pockets.HAND POCKETS - That's the pockets where I think most people put their keys. That's where you're not supposed to put your hands if you're in the Navy. The opening, where you stick yer mitt, is NOT undersized. It's large enough to allow my very large hands to enter and exit, navigating around belt carried junk, without having to do hand yoga. These front hand pockets are LONG. They reach all the way to the bottom of the leg, same length as the cargo pocket. To me, that CAN be a problem. If you have something bulky in the hand pocket (pair of gloves) and then something else in the cargo pocket (Tools, gizmos) the equal length pockets will allow the stuff to double up in bulk. You'll have a blob on the side of your pants leg. Now I know, going to the club with an artificial blob on your pants leg was popular in the 70s. This "Side blob" would surely fail to impress. When the hand pockets are designed shorter, the pocket contents are held at DIFFERENT heights. Less bulky blobs.CARGO POCKETS - These are pretty large. Larger than I really like for MY use, but for others that might be a plus. You could carry maybe 3-4 lg trash bags, or a rain poncho. It'll hold a complete T-shirt wadded up. It might hold two beers. I carry a small pencil protector with tools in one cargo pocket. For me, smaller cargo's make the pens and tools more available, not down there in the "Bottom of the bag". Maybe I'll need to start carrying beers to make the pens more accessible.REAR POCKETS - These are the kind that are INside your pants, not like a sewn on cargo pocket. They don't have a flap/cover, they have a small square of Velcro to hold the edges of the open pocket closed. I always find the hook side of that Velcro, in other pants, to be a "Skin scraper" when sticking my hand in for my wallet. The depth of these rear pockets is ideal for me. Just a tad longer than a wallet. Still I'd prefer flaps.BELT LOOPS - Thumbs up here. They fit a 1-3/4 in. plastic reinforced, dbl thickness guide belt (The Wilderness). The loops are in the appropriate place(s). Some times, import shorts come with some odd placement/spacing of the belt loops. Makes it hard to hook your stuff on the belt in the usual place(s). These are not odd spaced. My flashlights, cellphone holder, anti-zombie sonic transducer, etc. all fit in the expected spot(s). Waistline has elastic. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT over the old "Cotton tape/metal buckle" adjustment things on the side of BDU's. Or worse, the Class A uniform "Fold and roll" method of making your slacks fit.I like them. I bought three pair.My apologies to the Harvard grads. My use of the personal pronoun to describe pants is deplorable.

Very Nice Shorts
These shorts are exactly what I hoped they would be. They are well made, have lots of pockets and don't shrink when washed and dried. Recommended.

Just a little off!!!
No change since last review. The front pockets are sewn in a manner that severely reduces the openingspace to the point that i have ripped the pockets trying to remove a small ring with only 5 keys on themGood fabric, stitching and fit. No complaints in these areas. But, now that I have bought 3 pairs, I just can't recommend them. There is something 'off' about all of the pockets. It's very difficult to get your hand into the front pockets to put something into them or take something out of them. They seem to be cut too close or too tight. I mean scrap your knuckles every time you try to access them. The front pockets seem to catch on certain types of cabinet door/drawer handles, to the point that it stops you dead in your tracks. The back pockets are the same way. Very tight for small wallets or other items. It takes a major effort to remove items from the back pockets. Forget about wearing a watch or a ring. Impossible to get your hands into or out of pockets without drawing attention to yourself. If you design these please wear them for a little while and you will understand. The pants have been washed a couple of times already and the pockets do not 'relax' or loosen up. NO I CANNOT RECCOMEND THESE PANTS!!!!
