This is a well built product, the temperature reading does stabilize within the advertised 2-3 seconds. However I sent it back for the following reasons.The device has two buttons. The comfortable large front button turns the device on, unfortunately the tiny unpleasant back button turns it off (by pressing and holding for a few seconds). This is a terrible user interface and makes the device unacceptable for frequent use.One alternative might be to simply just leave it on as there is a 1 hour automatic timeout. If the 4,000 hour battery lifespan is accurate one could use it once a day for over 10 years. That might work for you, but not me. As a general rule I don’t like putting an electronic device back in the drawer while it’s still turned on.This gadget has loads of functions including °F/°C, min/max, display shifting, etc. That’s fine except they all need to be selected, enabled and disabled using just the two buttons. So one needs to memorize a complicated series of double presses, long presses and so on in order to use all this functionality. Or keep the tiny printed manual in the drawer and refer to it often - not happening when I am busy cooking!One final complaint - this may be a bit unfair considering most every cooking thermometer I know of is also guilty of this offence. The temperature display should not include a decimal place. eg it should display 169°F instead of 168.7°F. The device’s stated accuracy is not within 0.1° so the number after the decimal place isn’t accurate. Also, a single degree is close enough for any cooking task, is simpler to read and results in less cognitive load.PS: Thanks to amazon.ca for making the return process so easy and painless.

Very disappointed. I ordered one and it wasn’t securing properly and the metal tip broke. I thought it was a fluke so I ordered another one. The second one was much more secured but is having problems with the checking the temperatures. I had high hopes with this product, I am very disappointed.

I'd love to give it 5 stars, but the first one I received did not work, and had to return it. It is very fast, that allows me to take temperature readings quickly and without losing too much heat. I can't comment on its accuracy since I don't have anything to verify.

My issue is that the cover is too tight a fit. It takes a hard pull to remove it and then it comes off very rapidly when it does release. I worry about damaging the probe, which is very thin. And one time I stabbed myself with the probe when the cover released suddenly.

Looks great in Red! More importantly, it performs as advertised. Instant readings that are super accurate. Easy to operate and clean...love that it is water resistant
