Project Gray Battleship Linoleum 12 Carving Sheets Studio Print Cut Artist Printmaking Lino Plates Art Unmounted Pack (8" x 8")

Half the tiles I received had crushed and crumbling edges. Not sure if this is due to age of the linoleum or lack of quality control when cutting the blocks. The type of relief printing I utilize I prefer to start with a crisp clean edge so this is fairly disappointing to my standard use.

I haven't tried carving these yet. They are not too hard but not too soft. We will see how it goes. It's hard to find too many options, or at least that I have found so far. All are pretty pricey but that seems to be the norm. I think they are worth getting as a beginner to try printmaking out.

Most block print artists will say that this (Battleship Gray) is the best lino for carving. As a relative beginner, I found it a bit stiff and hard to carve. But my results were great! Those same artists will also tell you that they older lino is stiffer and harder to carve, as is cold lino (some warm it up a bot b4 carving). I don’t know if my difficulties were due to old/cold lino or “user error”. Either way, I persisted and got some good prints.

Very thin, very difficult to carve.

I am a trained print maker and bought these for a workshop that I was giving. Linoleum is in good shape and very durable with give to make carving the blocks easy. This was a great value for the price and was well received by all of the class participants.
