The "Z" light description and photos imply that it is powered by battery. We ordered one and it was a hard wired light that needs to be plugged into the wall. We returned one and ordered another thinking it was possibly a mistake, but the second one came with a hard wired plug in, as well. Not very practical if you have more than one letter and they all need to be plugged in. And we had intended this to be placed in our bathroom that has no outlets. The cord is also black, so it's going to be hard to hide. That being said, it is bright and the actual "Z" looks good. If you can figure out a way to plug it in and hide the cord, it might work for you. The cord is 150cm with an addition 7cm coming out from the letter.

A M A Z I N G! I ordered these to put in my little fur babies sleep quarters. I was worried that they would make that weird neon noise or get hot but none of that happened!
