Q: Approximately, how many millimeters (mm not inches) are the pebbles?

They are much bigger than expected! From 25mm - 40mm. Most are the latter. The bag even said “XL” on the tag even though I ordered the small size.

Q: Can you use this for window boxes

It depends on how sturdy your window boxes are. I only used them in planters. One bag weighs a pound or two. Hope that helps

Q: Do these rocks get hot in the summer sun? I want to use them for a dog run area, but don't want to burn my dogs' paws. Thanks.

I'm not sure, as I utilize them in my aquarium. I would imagine they do somewhat.
