TimexMen's M79 Automatic 40mm Watch

My brother loves it.
My brother loves The Charlie Brown Gang when we were kids & he still does. It's a self-winding automatic watch & does not require batteries as long as you keep wearing it. Highly recomended to Charlie Brown fans.

This is a good watch.
This is a great watch. I've always loved Timex as a brand. You can't go wrong with them. I got this gold faced one on sale recently and it's good quality and it keeps time well. My only complaint is the band sucks. I bought a different one here in Amazon.

Beautiful Retro Inspired Automatic watch.
First I'd like to start by addressing one of the other reviews. This is an automatic watch so it is wound by motion but it also can be hand wound via the crown. The myota movement (citizen) is rated for about 40 hours fully wound so if used properly and worn daily (and if set correctly) it should run throughout the night and still be the correct time and date when you are ready to put on in the morning. This watch band style is one that isn't used very much any more and requires a screwdriver or tool to open the wedge on the lower latch to move it to the correct place on the band. This is easier to size than most metal watch bands and is much more flexible. Once you set it to your wrist size it shouldn't fall off and the adjustment shouldn't move unless it isn't set properly. It has a latching mechanism that should snap together and hold tight. It can be hard to get used to putting on at first but after a few times you will know how to easily put it on. I've owned a watch band of this style previously on a watch I wore daily so it was okay for me. I'd say that anyone looking at an automatic watch is probably more of a watch enthusiast and already knows the little nuances of owning one. If you are new to watches do your research first. Otherwise if you want something a little easier get the Timex Q version of this. It comes with a battery powered quartz movement, while it ticks a bit loudly, is a little easier to live with if you aren't accustomed to automatic watches. This is a beautiful Retro Inspired watch, I got it while it was on sale for 120 and it's a steal at that price.

Amazing Quality
Beautiful watch, the blue contrasts well with the black. The hand movement is impeccable

Poor design and final product
The watch looks nice. That is the only good part. It works by being wound by motion when one wears it. Should I do jumping jacks to keep it wound? I dont sleep with it on! Every morning it is not running and the date is wrong until it gets shaken. The band is hard to get it on and hard to get it to come off. It sometimes falls off though. I was trying to replace my older Timex watch and now I am back to wearing the old one that never had these problems.

Love it! Though overpriced at MSRP
I love this watch! I had it in my cart for weeks, waiting for an excuse to buy it. The thing holding me back was the $299 MSRP and price on Amazon. I noticed it went down to $200 while I was shopping on Amazon, so I immediately completed the purchase. At Grey Market retailers, this goes for about $160 (which I think is the perfect price). Unfortunately the Snoopy edition proved difficult to find at that price as it was sold out everywhere. Even sold out on the Timex website at $299.I still recommend it, but it's all about what you're willing to pay. For me, $200 was an acceptable price and worth it to me. As a snoopy lover, I'll give this to my kids one day! Not a doubt in my mind it won't last for a very long time as it uses a Citizen movement!

Nice looking watch
I tried the watch with the stock bracelet and did not care for it so I immediately swapped it out for a “strap habit “ band and am now pleased with how comfortable this watch is.I got this watch for almost 50% off so I am happy with my purchase, I would definitely not pay retail for this watch. The fit and finish on this watch are great. It’s my first automatic so I’m just happy to see the motion through the back of the watch. I have read reviews which people have said the motion or rotor noise is loud. I have not had that experience at all, I sleep just fine wearing this watch. The bezel and crown both seem to have a nice tactile feel, my experience is limited but I’m happy with the bezel clicks and how the crown engages the winding mechanism. The crystal is very domed and I will certainly try to be careful with this watch because it’s definitely a scratch magnet. The lume is almost nonexistent so don’t expect to read this watch in the dark. I gave it four stars because the bracelet it comes on does in fact suck. You will need to replace it to fully enjoy this watch.

Blemish on crystal
The corner of the Timex box the watch came in was torn and scotch taped as if it had been returned. The watch itself seemed like new but there is a blemish on the crystal actually a bunch of blemishes that look like bubbles or delamination in or on the plastic crystal. It said last one when I purchased it so I'm guessing someone returned it due to the blemishes on the crystol and I purchased the returned watch. Overall the watch is nice and seems to run well. Assuming it was the last one and Timex doesn't seem to make it anymore I will probably keep it since I like the style, I just wish I would have known I was buying what seems to be a returned watch and wish it would have been discounted due to the imperfection/blemishes on the crystal which I will probably have replaced.
