Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylic Medium Clear Gesso, 225ml

Before buying, I was wondering what type of sheen this product has (gloss, satin, matte, etc.), and is it truly clear? I would say it’s a matte finish because of the fine grit suspended in the gel. There is a haze of milky white when you first apply, which fades to nearly clear. It produces a very workable surface for opaque media. It’s very smooth to apply and dries quickly. Overall, it’s very helpful.

I'm shocked at how this medium roughed up my journal page. It's now like sand paper!

I have a really difficult time finding pastel paper in tones I like, so I tint my own watercolor paper with watercolors, then gesso over it with this. It provides an excellent tooth for soft and oil pastels and I'm able to control how much or little is there. Awesome stuff!As a heads up, however, on very dark colors - like black or dark gray - this will leave a very slight milky tone over the top.

Used the gesso first then applied my acrylic paint to my Bible page. The gesso dries pretty well and quickly.

So far things are looking good. Process in process so we’ll see what happens.
