yes that is what we use it on, gas with flame!!

Q: It seems like the hole in the center of this will still cause a "heat spot"~am I correct? Reviews on the 7inch says it flakes, same for this one?

I have had nothing but success with this diffuser. THere is not a hot spot in the middle. When you use it on a gas stove the flame comes out of the stove in a circle bigger that the hole in the middle. Haven't had any problem with flaking. Worth the $. :)

Q: Can anyone upload the 'removable' handle? Is it easy to use?

found the removable handle a bit awkward but the diffuser works great especially on the prep of slow cooking stews and soups.

No, I don't recommend using it on an electric ceramic range. I think the diffuser is really for a gas stove. When I had a ceramic range I had to get rid of my cast iron and copper pans because the instructions said not to use them. Perhaps yours is different. Mine was a GE and I also had a Dacor. I think the cast iron diffuser would scratch the top and possibly the cast iron pan would also scratch it. I think the diffuser would be okay for a cast iron pot or pan just not on a ceramic top or coils.
