Awesome beginning!
Oh, I really am going to enjoy reading this series. Franky is one main character I am really going to enjoy following as she figures out just what is going on at this academy. And just what is Zoltan to her??And why did her boss try to kill her? What has happened to the ones that have disappeared? So many questions! On to the next book!

Couldn't put it down!
I think I found a new author! Maya is my kind of author. Her books are so good, I can't put them down. She's got a great imagination. I absolutely love Franky! She doesn't take any crap from anyone! Zoltan! What can I say? He's amazing and a little intense. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Great nugget found here!! A must read
I totally love Franky she is a wild card but her character is amazing and I think you willfind her as fun as I DO! This is a must read for people like me that like magic with great plots. This one has both and seems to be just getting started. I tend to like my books to be longer so I almost took a star away due to do many books not really holding up to snuff with the length I believe one should be. But this one has enough to keep you invested and wanting to know what is going to happen next and how our main character could have found herself in this situation.

Interesting premise, unlikable character.
The storyline was really interesting to begin with, but a few large hurdles are in the way of actually liking this book.- Franky’s personality is unlikable to the point of being hard to read. She makes careless, hot headed, too stupid to live decisions she miraculously survives. I believe the point was for her to appear hardened by life, but when in reality she comes across as rude and a bad decision maker when her life is on the line.-the school itself might as well be a blank building for how well it actually exists in the setting.-the plot seems to be one thing in the beginning and takes a few weird twists after that. I’m sure that will be answered in a few books, but the “promise” between reader and author is off here. Nothing really is resolved at the end unless you count the weird Soren interaction.Did I hate the book? No. Did I stop multiple times to look at reviews and see if I was off on my weird frustration with Franky? Yes. Would I read the next book? Maybe I’m really torn.Pros: Zoltan seems interesting.

Hell yes! Read this now!
One of the rare books that snaps me out of my KU book boredom and reels me in until I forget what time it is, I just know I am happy and completely invested in a great plot. There are a few minor editing errors, but aside from that, which happens... we are all human...this was a stunning start to a series.

Interesting but random
What a rollercoaster ride.Honestly.. some parts of this book didn't make any sense at all. I'd reread something a few times and still not understand it or get where it came from.A lot of grammatical errors. The story almost seemed so random or rushed... Jumping from one thing to the next and out of left field. The parts that were easy to follow were enjoyable and interesting enough. An interesting idea with potential. Some things don't really add up, but that could be explained in the next one.

Good series start
Franky is a hybrid, fae and vampire. Pure bloods.are the top.of hierarchy and hybrids are.frowned upon and frequently killed. Cranky world for an organization that keeps the supernatural in order. Her powers are changing causing her control to slip and she's assigned a task.that could get her killed

Interesting start but has teething issues
Franky is mixed supernatural, half fae, half vampire. Within her world, half-breeds suffer badly and end up dead quickly without protection. Franky has some pretty good protection working for an enforcement agency. When shadows begin attacking, supernaturals disappear and she's sent on an assignment to the secretive daywalkers' academy, Franky will uncover new things about herself, magic, and the balance between the world as she knows it.The storyline is really interesting: the mystery and will they/won't they kept this going for me, despite some elements of the romance being a little childish. I am interested to know what's going on with the mystery and that will probably have me buying the next book in the series. Franky is a good character, full of snark, making her an interesting character to follow. Two main secondary characters focused on within the school are interesting too. Yet Franky the snarky female lead isn't uncommon for novels of this type and I didn't feel there was anything to really make her stand apart from others. This book also needs some editing still, particularly in the second half. Some parts are hard to follow with typos all over the place that slightly ruined it for me.Overall, good storyline and characters, but with a little refinement I think it could be really great.

Intriguing
I don’t know why the blurb for this book drew me in, but I knew I wanted to read it straight away, so I did. I’m glad I did because it’s intriguing.Sienna is a town built behind wards that houses the supernatural. An organisation polices the town and this is headed by a demigod Roberti. He discovered Francesca (Franky) Drake when she was 16 covered in blood and surrounded by bodies. She is a half-blood the most reviled of supernatural creatures. She is half fae, half vampire. Normally half-bloods are killed but instead Roberti recruits her for his organisation. After 10 years it seems that Franky’s powers are going a bit loopy and she has become clumsy and unfocused. In a desperate attempt to save her job she takes on an undercover mission to one of the scariest places in Sienna, The Daywalker Academy. When she arrives with a Big Bang her hopes of staying under the radar fail and she comes under the fearsome eyes of Zoltan, an ancient vampire who makes her knees weak.As a character Franky is a mess. She’s impulsive, powerful and insecure. It’s a dangerous combination, especially for those around her. She’s insecure because she knows that as a half-blood she’s not wanted. She also doesn’t understand her own powers. This book has so many unanswered questions that I’m relieved that the next book is already out. I need to know what on earth is going on because I’m confused. I’m not confused because it doesn’t make sense, I’m confused because the author has dangled tidbits of information out before me and lured me on to find out what happens next.Excuse me whilst I download the next book.......

Investigated
We are introduced to Franky, Fenri, Zoltan.. All the players and their settings in this book and we are left with a few answers, but mostly a lot of questions. This is well written and fast paced. So much a page turner, that you will loose sleep. It is so worth it, very much enjoyed this book. A good start, to what promises a very exciting series.
