This is my 2nd Sapporo iron. I use an extension cord with it mainly because my plug is not very close to where I put my ironing board.My 1st Sapporo iron lasted over 20 years and I iron a lot. Hope this helps. **Q: what all comes with the iron?** A: everything except the cover plate for the iron you have to order it separately. Cost about 10 dollars and you will need it. I love this iron. I use it for quilting. **Q: reviewer that says it overheats fast, will instructions advise me as to what setting I should keep it at?** A: Fortunately I haven't had the problem the other reviewer refers to. I sew for a living and this iron is on for about 6 to 8 hours a day. Yes, they mention a bit about settings but depending on the material you are using and the amount of steam you are applying... the setting will depend. I use setting #4 (settings run #'s 1-5) the most for 100% cottons and corduroys. I bump up to #5 for heavy canvas. These are the materials I use most. I would suggest you try the various settings on the material you use to determine what works best for you since this iron is nothing like a retail/home use iron. My last iron was an Oliso and while I loved it...it just couldn't keep up. Sputtered and splattered all over the place. IF you purchase the Sapporo, be sure to purchase the demineralizer to extend the life of your iron. If you purchase this iron, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. **Q: I use these irons commercially so they are on all day. This last one stopped working after 2 weeks of use. Do I have to change the power switch?** A: It is likely the fuse. This happened to me as well... I sent it back and got it replaced. When it repeated again with the new one I did a google search and found out it was the fuse. I found a place (can't remember where it is at the moment) to order a replacement fuse. In the mean time, I took one out of an old iron and figured I'd give it a try. It worked... and is still working 8 months later. I forgot to turn the iron off and it was on for 2 days which is probably why the fuse blew. Trust me...
