A review of the retractable key ring by  KEY-BAK #485B-HDK Retractable Reel with 48 inch (122 cm) Kevlar Cord, Black Front, Steel Belt Clip, 8 Ounce Retraction, Split Ring Tagged like most cattle at the office I have a badge which needs to remain in plain sight for viewing by security and to be used to swipe at gateways and doors. I had to buy a couple new retractors each year when they jammed or the string wore through and broke. Office supply store retractors are cheap gumball machine prizes compared to this Key-Bak.The Key-Bak is a beefy, serious retractor. Yes, it is heavier and more bulky but it is not larger than my belt and the large clip holds it securely against a belt loop. Although it only has my badge and one or two other cards it makes you feel like Larry Daley in Night at the Museum! It's a durable, strong retractor that works smoothly. If anything the weight makes me more aware of whether I have my badge with me or not; with this I have not yet made that pointless walk from the parking lot to the door only to remember my badge was back at the car.Made by a company in Ontario, CA it is a heavy duty reliable retractor. Well worth the cost over the gumball versions.[3 Year Update]: 34 months later and this key-bak still looks and works the same as it did when I bought it. Seriously, it is brand new. I have used this for almost three years every weekday for work. The cord is not frayed, the recoil is still as strong as ever, the chrome back is pristine and the paint is not chipped. It has never refused to recoil and always fully retracts. It has been and still is an awesome key-bak. I LOVE this thing. I obviously do not need a new one, but I would not hesitate to buy this again whenever I need a key-bak. Absolutely top quality.

I bought this in 2015. Used day-in and day-out near every day of every one of those 7 years. Never failed me once. Never sagged, never fell off my belt, and it still retracts so snappily it could be brand new.The only reason I am replacing it after 7 years (with same model again) is because the kevlar cord is finally on its literal last threads and I don't want to lose my keys when it finally goes, one of these days.Superlative product.

I'm here to write a review because the key ring that I bought over 6 years ago finally broke and I ordered a replacement. It lasted through 6 years of EXTREMELY heavy use--working at facilities where I had to pull my keys out to lock and unlock doors probably hundreds of times a day. And I tended to pull on my keys or swing them around by the cord while fidgeting. Honestly I can't believe it lasted as long as it did with how I treated it. The clip on the back is also perfect to attach to a belt loop--I can't remember a single time in 6 years when the clip slipped off, it's very secure.

This product was well worth the money, strong enough for the 7 or so keys i carry all day, but the cord wears quick with how often i need to use them,(probably close to 50-75 times a day, i work in a jail) i feel like the cord should be made of a metal cable to fit my liking. The kevlar cord broke after a couple of months but luckily i just had to open it up, cut off the end of the cord, stick it back in the plastic keyring holder triple knot it and super glue the knot for extra support, then tighten the spring. and it works like new again. over all good buy, beats the hell outta buying multiple replacements of s***ty walmart ones.

I've had this gadget for a while now and I'm happy with my purchase! It's easy to use and the durability is fantastic!

This is my review of the KEY-BAK Original Retractable Key Holder. Sometime, the old stuff is the best stuff.It seems that I have been carrying keys in my front right pocket forever. Over my lifetime, I've had just a few keys to far too many keys to tote around. But it's always been something to take up room in my pocket. Over the past weeks, I've attached my keys to a carabiner (which I hooked to my belt loop), and a carabiner attached to a retractable string (which I also hooked to my belt loop). Neither was very good; keys bouncing around as I walked, and sometimes sat upon when I sat down. Ugh.But then I came across an oldie but a goody. A key chain with a retractable cord attached to a belt CLIP. The keys were no longer dangling like apples from a tree. They were held in place until needed. It reminds me of the school janitor decades ago; he always had his keys on such a device. Secure, but always within reach.Anyway, I'm pleased beyond words, which is odd being that we're speaking of keys. But all of these memories (old and new) add up to 5 stars.At least it gives me back some space in my right front pocket, and gives much less wear and tear to the belt hooks on my pants.

I like this key holder with the long hook on the back. I have to return it for another because looking at the back, it looks stained on metal hook and used. There are also what seems to be scratches on back. I always inspect anything I buy because I don't spend my monies on used stuff! Hoping they will replace as soon as possible! UPDATE: I WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLACE, BUT BOUGHT AGAIN FROM KEYBAK. THE ONE NEGATIVE BESIDES IT BEING KIND OF LARGE, IS WHEN I WEAR BELTLESS PANTS AND I PULL CORD A CERTAIN WAY, IT SLIDES OFF PANTS. NOW, YOU CAN ALSO RUN THE HOOK OVER PANTS LOOP AND IT WILL STAY ON MORE SECURELY. WHEN YOU HAVE A CHAIN OR SOMETHING THAT CAN REALLY LOCK ON, YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LOSING KEYS! I ONLY LOST A FEW KEYS YEARS AGO WHILE SHOPPING IN SILVER SPRING, MD, BEFORE IT BECAME OVERCROWDED! NOTE: WHEN I ORDERED AND WANTED TO RETURN TO KEYBAK, YOU HAVE TO RETURN TO ANOTHER COMPANY ALONG WITH $4.00 TO RECEIVE ANYTHING ELSE. YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING BACK TO THEM. I WILL STICK WITH AMAZON IN THE FUTURE!

Got it to replace a cheap one that broke (cable separated from end ring) after one month of limited use. This looks solid, has a very good belt clip and a much longer cable.

Es mejor el de keblar porque el de cadena suele atorarse o dañarse mas fácilmente, he usado los dos y desde el punto de vista funcional es excelente, muy practico y evita pérdidas, olvidos y cuenta con suficiente cable para hacer las manipulaciones a la longitud usual del brazo
