Waterless Trap Seal, 2 Inch

I think the bad reviews are for small drains.That said I’m using this in a 5” basement floor drain that goes straight into the sewer. My washer and utility sink drain into it, and it has no P Trap in the concrete floor. It smelled like the house sewer, stunk up the whole basement and house. Because of the immediate bend in the drain a Sureseal wouldn’t work. I popped this in and it’s been working for weeks without a problem. I’ve been very happy with it. I’ll probably buy a few spares, but it has been holding up to a house of 4 washing clothes, utility sink use, and a 3 Ton AC condensate drain line. It can handle a high flow of water, (like many many many gallons at a time) so I’m not sure what the negative reviews are about it draining slowly are about - probably bad plumbing and not the device itself.

This worked perfectly for me! It's sealed in any smells that would emanate from the drainpipes, and the water drains thru it with ease. I was concerned by some of the other reviews but rolled the dice with the product. I can whole heartedly say I'm glad I did!

I live in an old property in France and the shower drain unit was never fitted with a " P " trap so the smell from the wastewas foul. I came across this product on Amazon.fr , from the States, reading the reviews it seemed that this might well be the answer to my problem. It arrived and looked well made, fitting was very simple. I have to say I am extremely pleased with the result since fitting it. IF you are experiencing this issue then I strongly suggest this is most likely to be the answer for you as well. This does not help reduce odors in any way. I have a walk-in shower and the drain can give a bad sewage gas smell at times. I got this product after cleaning the drain and doing everything I could to help reduce the smell. This item has honestly helped 0%. Even if it would have reduced the smell a small percentage I would accept the results. But 0%? That's just a waste of $35 that I wish I could have back.

I came back this page intending to return the seal due to poor drainage. Thanks to the other reviewers here who suggested inserting the seal down into the pipe, I don't have to.With the drain flush to the pipe, my shower pan filled up practically to overflowing from a 10 minute shower. Pushing the seal just a couple of inches down into the pipe completely prevents backup and the shower drains perfectly fine. It has also done its job and eliminated the sewer smell.Note to manufacturer: a simple installation step of "insert seal 2 inches into drain pipe" would probably prevent most of your negative feedback. Knocking off a star for value as the item is a little pricey, but happy with the purchase.

I have tried all of the other ones this one right here fits a standard 2” pvc pipe unlike any of the other ones !! It seals really good and so far so good ! Some ppl say it only lasts a year I can prob agree with that but I don’t care if I have to buy 1 a year it’s worth it if I don’t have to smell my drain anymore ! It slows the drain just a little bit but not enough for any concern at all,and they do make a high flow that I wasn’t aware of when I bought this one !

It may work for smell, I needed it for backflow, which I dont think will work. It hardly has any flow for that matter. It takes forever to drain the shower, and it is imposible to take a shower longer than 3 minutes without flooding rour bathroom.
