How wide is the leg opening at the bottom of the pants?

I would not describe the leg opening as small like you might find on tapered leg pants. But they do not flair out wide either. I would describe it as straight leg pants.

Dear customer, it has not got fly, it is elastic waist with drawingstring.

Does the drawstring allow the elastic to expand and or cinch in?

The draw string allows the elastic to cinch in. Elastic is tight at the outset but softens after a few washing. A little tightness may be fine for running and other exercises and for well conditioned waist lines.
